The secret joy of maize! Whether roasted or boiled fresh maize, its loved by so many Parrots (and Humans). Like corn that pops, they come running or flying in from near or far!

RK is also head of the online blog for Greytown. Today he is giving me orders for the next topic.

Heā€™s always ordering me.

Since print newspapers are on the way out, Greytown is going green.

New training tactic:

Now Iā€™m moving Kevin all around the house and he seems to be enjoying the new experiences. I bring the chair heā€™s used to sitting in into the new space and he settles pretty quickly. Iā€™ve poured over all kinds of ā€œhow toā€ for greys. My main goal for Kevv is to have a good quality life and more and more part of the family. Love him so.

Best. Picture. EVER! LOL!! Looking forward to your blog!!

I know that look very well. That is the "Let me near that computer and I will show you total destruction" look.:D

Love you're using 'his chair' to move him about the house. Provides him that protective shield against any 'radioactive stuff' that may likely be hiding in those new places.

Haha heā€™s such a character! Today weā€™re chilling in the sitting room with him peeping ever so sweetly. I refuse to be drug in and fly like a moth by a light...

Have you thought about removing his leg band? That kind worries me, that it might get caught or hung up on something. Then your baby freaks out and hurts themselves,

You have so many great pictures I hope you enter the phot of the month contest, even if itā€™s jyst for fun. This month itā€™s capturing an emotion

Thanks! I love Kevv and get some good pics. Thanks for putting up with my picture problem!

Yes Iā€™ve thought of removing the band but who here is qualified? Iā€™m so afraid they might break his leg doing so!

Yeah.... I had to have my GCC leg band removed because it was so large it would slide over the ankle sometime. The vet wrapped in her in s little towl and snippets it off easy peezy
I was worried but it was ok. I asked and they make band remover snip things. Maybe a breeder would have access to one? Maybe itā€™s something yiu can buy and do yourself?

Yours was clamped as an adult do I think it might unbend . I tots get that restraining if done with yiu sbd friends could hurt your relationship and if you donā€™t have qualified vet people to do it,

Itā€™s hard to trust our priceless love to anyone !

So true! We have a vet, very nice person but not at all familiar with parrots. He didnā€™t even know that parrots need to eat more than peanuts (actually shouldnā€™t have but we wonā€™t pick that fight). We are very behind the times here. Iā€™m trying to work with the vet to raise awareness about these amazing greys. No one absolutely no one knows how to work with or handle them. Prayers appreciated!

Great choice on your part! There is a fairly specialized tool used for cutting bands. It is in fact designed to cut a single wire from bundled wire and not nick the other wires in the bundle. It is a rare tool outside of those specialities and not common in the vast majority of Vet's tool box.

Yes, a wire nipper will work right up to the point that the sharp end shifts inward...

RK has a wise mama! :D

I put a link to the tool in my post above. Breeders have to have them as they have to remove some Iā€™m sure issues happen.

But yes I was so happy when the vet showed me the special tool. I was afraid it was going to require anesthesia and drama. And a GCC leg is so tiny!!!!!

Clearly, I read to quickly pass this statement! What Picture Problem!?!?!? I'm always looking for Kevin Photos, after all, the only difference between a Sunrise and a picture of Kevin is a Kevin photo is a bit more rare...
