My rescue keet Emily Jean has been broody almost all spring/ summer so far...and believe it or not she had produced about 8 unfertile eggs in a very short time!!??? There are males in the room with her that I have also rescued but she is never allowed to free fly due to a previous injury she recieved before I rescued her about 4 years ago!! She is caged alone because she is my "special girl *I think she had flown into a window/wall/ or mirror at some point...recently she has started a new clutch and beings she has a bum leg she spends alot of time very close to or completely on the floor of the cage...she has layer a total of 6 again and my first question is how can I possibly get her to stop?? And now since yesterday she has an irritated cloaca!!??? Could it be from laying on so many eggs?? Or could it be from being on the ground alot because she decided to have them in her "food bowl"... I have no idea what to do about this beings it never occurred before??? There are no avian vets anywhere near me so I'm reaching out here...tyia!!Any thoughts are greatly appreciated!! Could she be egg bound??
