So this morning was fargos first visit to the vets for a check up

He started out a little grumpy on the way there, climbing around his cage...
but started to relax by the end... he then waited patiently for 15 mins waiting for the vet, meanwhile the nurses and other customers stood there staring at him saying how beautiful he was... one lady then asked if he was friendly.. and i was like no, he doesn't other people except me at the moment, we are working on the socialising :p
while we were waiting he just casually ate his food and played with his toys, and even said hello a few times..
then it was our turn..
he waited while we talked about his diet and routine.. and then it was time to come out..
well he just sat there PERFECTLY on my arm.. i then asked him to step up to be weighed.. which he did.. perfectly!
the vet then looked down his throat, looked in his ears, looked at his eyes, listened to his heartbeat and lungs, while he was just sitting calmly on my arm.. i was so surprised. he didn't try to bite him or anything! its weird that he doesnt like anyone but he seemed to like the vet.. the vet himself owns 2 greenwings.. :)

but then he lifted up his wings, he was not happy, he did his little baby cry and tried to bite him.. but then that was over, and he was feeling his back and lifted his tail.. well! he did not like that one bit! only tab is allowed to look at his tail hahah :p so he flew off to the ledge above the door. and then started screaming.. the doctor said it was his alert call.. :(
so i got him down and we put him away.. and he was all calm again..

so all in all.. the doctor said he was a very healthy little boy... perfect weight.. perfect throat/eyes/ears... :D

was soooo proud of fargo.. he did extremely well.. he is now having a sleep after his busy morning
i was expecting to come home with a very grumpy birdy :p

mum! i dont wanna goooooo

Good Bird! And i am always amazed how well avian vets are with the birds, and how well the birds will behave when they 'need' to.

yes :) when the doctor saw him he said 'Fargo, we meet at last' hehe

I think the birds can sense that the avian vets are 'birdy' people.. no one in my family really likes birds, so of course he doesn't care for them either :p

i know :D im a bit of a paranoid mum, so its good to know he is all healthy and im doing everything right :p

i disagree..i think it depends on how to treat them n how u make care of them..if he is on me i can put him on anyone.. if he is on a stand he will go to up but i have to make him...he always punks people, but never try to bite anyone hard.. but he is very sweet boy. if u know how u handle a macaw n know how u pick macaw up u can puck him up. but if u never handle a macaw he will punk where u think he is mean which he really not

ohhh ok! i have never actually seen any macaw except the blue and gold.. i would love to see all of the different kinds in person... i had just read that they were more difficult.. but then again every bird is different and as you said it depends how you care for them and such :D

only macaw i have not seen in person yet is the hyacinth macaw. im have to go visit plex one day to see one.. lol... but i seen most of all other macaw even cross breed.

haha i think we should all go on a visit to plax's house one day to visit all his macaws ;) LOL

aww so jealous! would you buy a cross? or just deciding between b&g and greenwing?

my parnet had a B&G when i was younger. n my friend now has a GW..i like both of them. so it would be between one of them 2.. or like unless i found a rescue that had a corss that needs a home i would take a cross.. but what ever one is my next im going to rescue one. because i got Roscoe as a baby.

oh i love people who take in rescues! thats great... i read so many stories on this forum of all these rescue birds and it is so sad.. i couldnt imagine just leaving fargo and feeding him a bad diet and such

we dont any unwanted macaws in australia (because they cost so much haha) :)

I LOVE macaws. No room for them at the moment... plus I'm a broke college student living at home. I should be grateful my parents tolerate the conures, lol. There's a store called Bird Paradise about 45 minutes from me that always has their macaws out and on stands. The hyacinths scare me a bit. I always end up petting the B&Gs they have out. They're my favorite as far as colors. I don't know why :) The first time I went to BP there was this very tiny old lady walking around with her Scarlet. He was so well behaved and loved this lady to bits. He looked so huge compared to her. I was so happy that she had a companion, but then it hit me that he'd probably out live her because she said he wasn't very old. :( I feel bad for the poor baby when that time comes.

yea i heard.. i wish over here they were a little bit higher in price.. you can get a B&g for 1200 over here. i got my scarlet for 2000. then the cage i haf to get.. so around 2500 all together. in really thats still not a lot knowing your feather friend will most likely out live you

customcasket: im a broke college student too ;) aww i love the B&g colours too.. are you ever going to own a macaw? and yes that will be hard for the bird when it loses its owner!

yes i think the prices in australia should lower, and america should go higher!!

im not sure if fargo will outlive me.. he might do! :p

well if ur a college student ur around ur 20s guessing..he is a baby n they can live to be 100 im guessing he will out live you lol
