haha sounds like what i'm going to have to do if this little baby hatches.

you can use a plastic critter container I have videos of how to set one up for my baby birds you can use a heating pad under it to keep it warm.

is it possible if you can send me the video please?

One of the baby Robin I released bothered me til this very day. He took off flying away in a sunny afternoon and within an hour the sky got very dark and the wind started picking up. It was one heck of a storm and all I can think to myself is my poor baby that just took off and I have absolutely no idea if he even made it through....

since your baby will be so young though you can just make him a little nest from the nesting material in a corner till he is bigger.

Maybe he huddled in a tree and made it through.

It's just a plastic container with heating pad on the bottom and you cover the top with a towel to trap in heat. Nothing too complicated to make.

thanks marcialove.....can that work to incubate them as well?

I won't be able to watch the videos until I get to to see what its like. But brooders are mainly used to warmth not for incubating purposes. But I guess I could work....

yea but it also needs humidity

yea but it also needs humidity

I read an article some time ago that the liner that Marcia is using is NOT SAFE for baby birds...especially if the birds are prone to chewing... many breeders use it, without knowing, and may not have encountered any problems with it, but has been deemed unsafe, due the the chemicals and material used to make it.
If it gets chewed(which lovebirds may do, and your little one may not) they injest the chemicals, and also can cause harm in the intestinal tract, or get stuck in their crop.

I'll try and find the article, but it was a while back.
to this day I won't use it, and just use the bedding, paper towel, or I put a towel in on top of the bedding.
good luck!!

oh no! I thought it was safe I know so many breeders who use it and have for so long!

If the aquarium heater isn't working for you.. You can use a 25 watt bulb... Or even a seating pad placed and secured on the inside of the lid.... If you go the heating pad route make sure you secure it tightly so it cannot fall on the egg...

I don't use that lining! That stuffs get chemical reaction....I use paper on the bottom to line the base of the brooder then I put bedding on top and I like using shredded wood made by kaytee, the ONLY one I will use, all the other ones are too rough. You can make your own brooder by using a 10g aquarium and use the reflectors with clamp on light and use 60w bulb, that would keep them warm too. IF they're really young you would want to use two clamp on light and I usually put a cup of water in there for humidity. As they mature you can remove one of the light and cover that side with a towel. It's something I've been using for many years.

i found a lamp to use with a 40 watt bulb on half of it and lined the other half with foil and i have a small container with a sponge in it in there as well. now im just waiting for the temperature to get to 100. the egg is not in there yet.

Also remember the temp will be higher at the top of the cooler.. So monitor temp at the location of the egg..

Be careful with a 40 watt bulb..you don't want to cook the egg.l
