emergency help please

You can make a small incubator with a insulated container, vermiculite water and aquarium heater... . A ice cooler works great... some vermiculite or use the nest if it's still intact..place a small container of water with a $10 aquarium heater in it seal it up and monitor temp and humidity..you will have to turn the eggs I believe...

so but the aqarium heater in the ice cooler with the the egg in the nest and a bowl of water?

Don't handle the egg...best to use a clean, dry pair of rubber gloves.....the oil from your fingers can clog the pores of the egg.....also, don't put the egg in the water.....although there is an air sac in an egg, the pores in the shell allow the egg & the life inside, to breathe.....

The egg needs to stay dry.. But needs some humidity.. .. Discard the nest.. You might bring critters in.. Use a lg bowl and whatever you like as nesting material.. You then place the bowl in the cooler.. Then you need to find a container that you can place in the incubator/cooler that can hold enough water to submerge the aquarium heater.. .. I would then place it on high and monitor temp and adjust down if it starts getting to warm..

sorry just trying to understand. Put the egg in a container with nesting material and fill another container with water and submerge the heater on high? and both of those goes in the cooler.

Correct.... Place nesting material and egg in a bowl.. Place bowl in cooler.. Then find another container fill with water insert aquarium heater and place that in cooler..... and cover.... It will/should take a few hrs to get the temp up....but slow is better than to quick..

Also if it easier you can find a way to hang a small 25 watt bulb in the cooler.... You just need to find a way to keep a steady temp that doesn't fluctuate much or spike quickly..

But monitor the temp as time and size of cooler determine setting on heater.. After it gets to temp you need to adjust the heater.. But bare in mind you will be opening it a few times to turn the egg..

ok got it set up. just waiting for it to get warm. the room its in is really warm and so is the egg.

There is a chance they are infertile and when if your seeing yellow then that means no development has started you should be seeing blood vessels and darkness.

Well I find this fascinating and will be keeping an eye on the post. Hope all goes well. I would also be trying to save it.....

the aquarium heater wouldn't stay on so i kept it in the bathroom with the heater and it stood at 100 degrees all night steady. thats where its been so far.

Have you been turning the egg??? I hope you have plenty of time to handfeed once he hatches cause its every hour around the clock from the beginning. I've done it in the past and its tiring....

yea i have been turning it. and i have lots of time...i raised 6 pitbull puppies from day 1 before so i expect to be just as tired as then lol.

yay!! Sounds like its going well! Make sure you turn the egg and research, research, research how to hand-feed, how often to, what consistency (changes throughout the age), and what temperature the formula should be.

yea thanks and i been researching like crazy. i found a good website about hand rearing them and i'm going to use that information. I'm still trying to find a way to make a incubator for not. All i have is a ice cooler and something to read the temperature for now.
