Parrots
Black Head Caique, Sun conure and ring-necked parakeet
Hi everyone, this is Kuzco. One of my 4 parrots. This week he got intoxicated because he ate the zipper of a cushion. He was hospitalized by the vet for two days and two nights, had all the tests (blood, ultrasound, feces), no presence of heavy metals was found. The only thing detected was a fatty liver, he eats the same pellets and vegetables as the other three, and he does not eat any type of seeds. This morning we brought him home, initially he was normal and wanted to rest. In the afternoon he started having these spasms, they are continuous, mainly affecting his legs. The vet says it is nothing serious, but I think she is underestimating the situation.

Currently, he eats and drinks normally, and interacts with the other parrots. I have noticed that when he interacts with my caique and they cuddle, the spasms stop. It seems that the spasms occur when he is still and trying to rest.

it almost seems like a toe tapping in eclectus.
The pellets i use are:
1) Hari Tropimix
2) Hari Lifetime Formula
3) Psittacus high energy formula
4) Harrison's Bird Foods High Energy

The fresh vegetables are:
1) Carrot
2) Fennel
3) Broccoli

I always use some vitamins and calcium in water advised from my vet. With the advise of my vet i use some hand feeding food and it stopped to stomping feet for severals hours. What is the meaning?

I would transition slowly from the the pellets you are currently on to Topps organic...if my ekkie eats other pellets she will start toe tapping and wing flipping. However, i would make his main diet chop and just supplement with the pellets. Hope your little one is felling better soon!
