I OFFICIALLY HAVE A DEPOSIT ON A WHITE CAPPED PIONUS CHICK! **Flails like kermit the frog**

I bring home Vortex in 3-4 months. Sex unknown at this point, but they're bred by Ineke Montgomery of Ontario, Canada :)
Vortex? Have you named it already? Gender neutral. I wouldn't mind knowing the price but I won't ask I'll let you share that if you like 😉

I feel the same as when someone says "I'm pregnant"... I feel like saying congratulations and many people do but there is still some way to go until it arrives and the potential for disaster is ever present.
So I usually say that's good, I hope everything goes well and you receive a healthy baby. And this same sentiment to share with you, I hope and pray that all goes well and that you receive your little Pionus all good and healthy.
🙂👍

Yep! Named the baby already! I generally name my birds before I get them if they're young. Been wanting a 'Vortex' for a long while now but things didn't settle on the other birds like this name did on this chick. :D

And thank you for the kind sentiments! **hugs** As for cost.. a grand total of $2000 CDN. Includes shipping. Ineke comes highly recommended so I stuck with her. She's knows across canada as a good breeder.

Seems like a reasonable price considering it covers the freight costs to your house. I wonder how it's shipped, in a small carry cage I guess, on a truck or maybe plane as well. Keep me posted, I'm interested to see how it all goes

**Coughs up a lung** Lucky me. I've Come down with Covid. The birds are keeping me sane, tho :D ! They're loving their new food I got for them, a chop-like food you add water to and nuke for 3 minutes. I believe it's called Birdy Bistro? ANyways, I've got a supply in the fridge for now, and in the freezer.

Ah you'll be fine from covid.
I find it unusual but my birds love hot food as well. It's not like they can eat hot food in the wild but their taste buds do like hot food

Had a dr's appointment today and my dr (Bless her heart) asked a couple of questions about my birds. It was awesome talking birds to her! She even did a quick search for a Pionus and I showed her what species I was getting. Very cool :D

I'm almost over my covid plague, LOL. JUst a lingering cough. The birds are happy to have me in the bird room again on a regular basis. They're also happy to have their regular bird seed. SIlly brats.

It turns out that the Timneh Grey I was interested in adopting had some problems that would be an issue in an apartment, including screaming whenever caged.. and not just a dislike for women, but an utter HATRED of them. I figured he'd be better with someone with big bird experience.

Sigh. Maybe next time :) Until then, my four stinkers are who I'll keep entertained :D.
I’m sorry that the larger parrot didn’t work out. I like to read through flock threads. My flock is… well… they are parrots 🦜 and it is what it is. Sometimes I think I live with clowns 🤡. It’s worth it though as they put a smile on my face daily.

An update on Charlie: His chest feathers have come in again! He plucked them out during the winter, but since molting, he's let them grow in! I also wonder if his improved diet (Trying to add more Vitamin A) is helping. Bought an add-water-and-cook food from Amazon that my stinkers adore. They, though, dislike the cranberries, but love the apples in it. Well worth the $30 cdn price tag!

Speaking of money- I am lucky the gov't is giving us Canadians some extra cash. I can put more cash aside for Vortex's eventual arrival. :) Then in May I have a fantasy/Science fiction convention I'm going to. Wish me luck! I hope to sell some artwork there!

The woman who is breeding her white cap and blue head pionus just started posting pix of the baby blue heads. THEY ARE SO CUTE! I'll post parrot tax once the white caps are being hand fed :D .

Aaaaand my bird is all but paid off! I owe the breeder a tiny amount for the bird, and shipping. Then we wait on when she can ship. She said something about 14 weeks. Not sure if that's supposed to be the age of the bird, or the amount of weeks you have to wait yet. **Shrugs**

So excited to get Vortex home!
:D

I had a phone consultation/appointment with my diabetic specialist today. He was TWO. HOURS. LATE.

Got a bunch of things for the birds today. food toys, new bowls. Biggest of all was the seagrass mat with toys attached to it. The birds - specifically Chara and Redshift - seem to be enjoying it. Charlie stares at it as if it's gonna eat him. LOL!!
