Parrots
I care for and manage a bonded pair of Parrotlets.
Okay, I've got a happily bonded non producing pair of parrotlets., had them for
a few years now. They were culled breeder birds., pictured in my profile pic.
I've got the male talking, when I am close and getting him to talk he will flutter
his wings just like the babies do when they are being fed. ( he's I think approx 6yrs)
Flutters when he gets a treat , flutters when I look in his eyes and talk to him.
it is the most endearing thing ever. My heart melts. It is not a mating behavior
at all. When I ask for a raspberry he makes the burrrrr sound and lifts his wings or
flitters them as he is doing it. Like he is emphasizing what he is saying lol
Does anyone have a bird that does this? When he gets his treat he will flutter
or when I come in close for a kiss he will flutter when he gets his treat
, the wing lift is like a shrug to
emphasize his words.
Anyone? did your bird just start doing it on his/her own?

Laurie and OP and Bonnie (Bunbun) Parrotlets.

No, but I wish he would!!!
He's mean and possessive... there's no question that he considers me to be HIS, but, well... no romance. Not like that!
Sounds precious!

After 40 years the honeymoon is usually over lol! oh my! the love and devotion goes unsaid. There must be so much connectedness my gosh........he probably knows what you are going to do, before you do :)
That is pretty darned cool. Compared to the lifespan of a dog and how
close that relationship can be, multiply that by almost 3 times....

I will have to get them used to a phone, I would like for others to see
what I mean it is ridiculously cute. No neck waggling it's not mating
behavior. I would never encourage that.

I think he sees me more like a parent or 'Pez Dispenser" Because he totally loves his mate.
I will say working with a bonded pair, and the task to tame them it
has really caused me to think of how my 'butting in' to their relationship
would affect their harmony. Boy that was hard to put into words haha.
I make sure to respect their time together. I am a third wheel.
No getting around that. :)

My ekkie crouches and flutters when he's excited. Anticipation, you know? It's a happy dance kind of thing for him, like, OMG Dad's coming over and I can't contain myself, yaaaaaaaaay!!! :)❤️

I saw a post where someone mentioned a happy dance, but I never
connected it to what Opie was doing....I thought happy dance = foot taps or something like that.

Nice to know someone else experiences this too :) and, that he is not
regressing back to baby behavior!

Best to all,
Laurie ~ Opie & Bonnie

The honeymoon is over... I love that. I LOVE THAT! But the bond is still there. Makes me feel better. I set out to complain, but you lifted me right up. Thanks!
