We all love our little Bumble-ina... I nominate this ("Thumbelina") for her theme song.

"Bumble-inaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!"

Bumble-ina is perfect.

And she even wears blue!

And the song says she’s no bigger than a bumblebee, which IS how she got her name. And my sis, who lived in Italy for several years, where ina is the feminine suffix for little things, does call her Bumble-ina. So yes, LOL, it works.

Bumble has finished her course of antibiotics. She's so small, she got a 0.2 ml dose which is actually one drop. I soaked it into a little crust of bread because she LOVES bread and I was able to get it all in her that way. She is back to her normal self. I have to remind myself now that when she's falling asleep around 5:30-6:00 pm, it's dark out in Seattle! She does seem to stay awake all day though. I'm a happy, relieved parront.

Good to hear that our favorite parrotlet is back to herself. How is her training doing?

Yay! I'm glad she's doing better. Finley always falls asleep in the day (and is ALWAYS fluffy...like even awake) but he's super weird and broken lol. And yes he has been to the vet about these various strange behaviors so he's perfectly "physically" healthy.

I have been slacking. And I really missed a great opportunity while I was recovering from surgery - I was home for 4 weeks and we could have learned a lot of new stuff. I need to pick a new trick for her to work on and really focus on it. She still loves to perform her known tricks, and fetch seems to be a great favorite.

Yeah - she spends a good portion of her time looking like a fluff-nugget, but the excess sleeping and the tiny bit of a tail bob was what really concerned me. Every single other thing about her was normal, and given that a few days after she started on the antibiotic, she was perkier again, there's no doubt there was something wrong. This is a really good example of a bird hiding illness. Oh - she was quieter too, but somehow I hadn't noticed that until she perked up.

I'm so glad she is better! I noticed with Ta-dah the same thing! Well was so better, but the sick was hard to notice and put into words! I'd been nearly to check on her do glad to see your post!! :)

Bumble makes new noises. When she first came to live with me, she would make a huge variety of sounds-but only when she thought I was napping. She stopped doing that ages ago, but recently I’ve noticed some new chirps and peeps making their way in to her repertoire. I wonder if this is because she’s all grown up now???

She also decided to make up her own trick the other night. I’ve been remiss in trick training and practice, but the other night I grabbed her little play gym, where we do most of the training. After going through our usual routine, she flew from my finger to the perch on the left (where we usually work), then when over the rope in the middle, down to the other perch, and back to my finger. This is not a particularly skilled or interesting trick, but she did it over and over for a long time and it was making my laugh because she seemed so pleased with herself. Of course she got her sesame seed reward each time. It was pretty cute.

And last but not least, I’m leaving her this weekend. My brother is getting married in Dallas so I’m on my way. My BFF will come to play with her and put her to bed tonight (she has 5 birds so she can manage), and then my daughter will be with her from late tonight until I get home on Sunday early afternoon. I thought about bringing her, but it’s a very quick trip and I don’t think the Catholic Church will let me bring her to the service, so I decided to let her stay home. We talked about it for at least a week in advance though, Wrench & Salty style!

Oh she will be well prepared for your short absense then. Congrats, have a blast ( but no too much of one - don't want to have to call on J.C. for more wine or fishes 'n stuff)

I don’t have the dog this weekend so Bumble is excited with extra hang out time. She gave me a tiny feather, fluffed up to maximum cuteness, and then napped.

Well that’s sort of touch and go. She didn’t let me wear it last year. I did it for my brother’s wedding and it doesn’t seem to bother her this time. But it’s time to get it redone, and I’ll pick a different shade, and who knows what will happen!

She us still seeming healthier? Less naps over all?

Yes! She takes a nap every day between 1 and 2, but stays awake and chirping and playing the test of the time. She seems to get sleepy early, but at this latitude, sunset will be at 4:21 pm today so I think that’s why.

Thanks for asking!
