On weekend I have my Chihuahua, so Bumble has to spend most of her time in her cage. I only have 2 rooms, and the cage has wheels, so sheā€™s always with me and interacting. One of my favorite things is that if Iā€™m sitting in the chair next to the cage, she stays at this end to be close to me. [emoji170][emoji170]

Iā€™ve thought about nominating her but then Iā€™d have to write stuff and I got intimidated.

Aww, you can just answer some questions, if that would help? I will send you a note with some prompts that will hopefully make it less scary.

Ok I guess. What do I have to do to nominate her?

You can see Tell the world about your pet! - Pet of the Day - but what it says is you email us her pictures stats and text about her and why she is special to Pet - the at sign - PetoftheDay.com okay?

Yup, itā€™s the same cage I have for Ducky.

I love it - except that those doors on the ends are unsecured. Tiny padlocks to the rescue! I think she loves it too and itā€™s so nice and big for her.

Last night I put Bumble to bed around her usual time (covered with a sheet that lets a lot of light through. I turned off the living room light and went into my room. This is our usual routine (occasionally I sit next to her cage and listen to her grind her beak for a while). She doesnā€™t seem to care about other lights being on in the front room, but the living room lamp has to be off for her to settle. Last night it was only the light from my hydroponic garden where I grow fresh herbs (for her mostly). So Iā€™m in my room and all of a sudden I hear FLAP FLAP FLAP FLAP FLAP! Needless to say I pretty much leap from my bed to the front room and uncover her, take her out, look her over. Sheā€™s fine. I spend a few minutes with her and then put her back in, repeat cage covering routine, head back to my room. She will absolutely not settle in, sheā€™s chirping up a storm, so after a couple of minutes I went out and sat in the chair and she immediately calmed down and a few minutes later I was able to go back to bed.

Could this be a night fright? Or just something startled her (I canā€™t think what but birds are weird)? Can I do something to prevent it if it is night frights? I donā€™t want my sweet girl scared!

Could have been a night fright I think Inger. Little Beeb's gets them too ( teil's are known for them ) and it freaks me out. Now I try to remember to cover 3/4 of his house with a pretty heavy blanket, only letting the most rear part partially covered.
Sometimes if I'm up late with the tv on (both kids are in the living room) a flicker would startle him now it cant.

I should put the idiot box in my bedroom :02:

Poor Lil Bumble, misses the mommy presence. Salty covers, one heavy for winter, the other light weight for summer, are both black, but both have a flap cut into them to let in some light from the kitchen. Without that flap, he gets nervous and takes Salty a long time to settle down. Jim we have a rule... after 10pm, the TV goes no higher tHan 5 and the cctv gets turned on. I always wonder what give parrots, especially small ones, nite frights. My little Maxie used to get them once in awhile too. His were pretty scarey, lots of screaming and flapping. You feel so helpless when it happens, the poor little thkngs.

Iā€™m lucky that none of my birds get night frights. Tiels seem to get them a lot. Poor Bumble :(

Iā€™m hoping against hope that it was a one-time thing. Time will tell I guess. She settled right in as usual last night.

So Bumble and her instagram friends are trying out for the Olympics. Hereā€™s Bumbleā€™s parallel bar routine. Make sure you have sound on, because the music turns her movements from ā€œeh do I want to do this trick?ā€ to interpretive dance. [emoji23][emoji23]
