It's also what I was told. I only want one bird, so it didn't matter, and my part time dogs are Chihuahuas- EXACTLY the same attitude: giant dog in a tiny package, so I'm used to it.

That said - lots of people have Plets and other birds so it could work for you too.

Good bird, Bumble! How did you teach the flip? And for the bat trick, you can teach them to do it on cue. Just say your command or give the visual signal while flipping her over, and soon she'll catch on! I've taught it to Kermit as well as the golden conure at our local pet store.

I used the flock talk training video to teach flip (she calls it loop but we already have poop and hoop). I actually had to stop teaching it and do Batbird first to get her comfortable being upside down. I'll see about taking Batbird to a new level šŸ¤£ She loves that one and practices in her cage. She also loves flip and just randomly does it all the time.

Aw that's so adorable! Ducky's favorite trick is wings and he does it all the time to get my attention. Kermit's favorite is wave and he often does it while he's waiting for me to give him the next trick. I'll check out the flock talk youtube video, I've watched some of her videos before and they were useful.

Very nice Inger and Bumble. You can see she is into doing the tricks. You get to the point where they actually WANT you to teach them more, and you better come up with good stuff too!

I know. I feel the pressure. I found a knitting needle to use to do the spin-around thing like Salty does,?and we've worked on that just a little. She definitely enjoys "playing" as we call it. I love how when she completes a trick she chirps as if to say "DONE!" Also watching her do the tricks when she "on her own time" so to speak. I was watching her sit on her boing the other day, and next thing I know she's doing flips around it!

What a wonderful little Bumble... whenever I see bumble's name I think of the old Christmas movie with the snow monster who was really a sweet monster and was called Bumble.

Before I chose her name, I'd been trying to think of things that made sense with her being blue. You know, like Blueberry. Or Smurfette. Nothing very good LOL. Then the breeder told me they were the size of a bumblebee when they hatch and I said "I want a Bumble-Bird!" and that was that. But one of my besties immediately pointed out that because of the snow monster, it still fit my blue theme! [emoji170]

I just watch Bum's trick video..it IS awesome :p We do things with our fids that "non birdie" people just don't/can't understand  and even the tiniest of birdies can be taught, given the proper incentive, time, love and commitment,as evident shown between you and Bumble...and it looks like she enjoys performing for her mommy:D

I once saw a you tube video where a guy rescued, and raised,an abandoned hummingbird! The guy was determined to keep the little hummer alive, feeding it every two hours for weeks. The bird lived and thrived and became the mans constant companion. Hummers can do a few things no other bird can..fly BACKWARDS...upside down,,hover..
The guy taught the bird to fly backwards and upside down to him! Amazing to see it lol..can't seem to find that vid now

Today I realized that Bumble says "tickle." I've been sure she was saying something but it sounded kind of like "thank you" which makes no sense. Today I realized she almost always says it when she's preening herself. When I first got her, I said "tickle tickle" when I gave her skritches, and she has seen several YouTube parrotlets say it. So now she has tickle, peek (when she plays peekaboo with me), and peekaboo when nobody is listening. And she's coming closer to saying it for me - she does a weird variation that's more like peeka-quack [emoji23][emoji23].

Ok so I know 3 words doesn't sound like much, but for a female Parrotlet I think it's pretty good. [emoji170][emoji170]

For a species not known for being great talkers, having Bumble say anything is just gravy on the 'taters of life.

Time for a Bumble update! Sheā€™s still smart and sassy and sweet. The End.

Haha not really. Letā€™s see. Tickle has become a well established word. She was on my shoulder and I could feel tiny tugs on the hairs at the back of my neck. I said, ā€œWhat are you doing back there?ā€ and she replied with ā€œtickleā€ and of course I melted. She also says it when she preens herself and my fingers, and the more I say it back to her, the more she says it.

Sheā€™s still only said the strange peek-a-quack version of peekaboo to me, but more frequently, and I think Iā€™ve heard a few kissy noises. I never ā€œcatchā€ her anymore. She used to babble and sing when I napped, and thatā€™s when I would hear her words, but she doesnā€™t do that anymore (this makes me sad because I really loved it).

Iā€™ve been working a mile from home at least 3 days a week so I come home and play with her at lunch, and she seems to like that extra time. Iā€™m afraid sheā€™s getting a little bored in her cage as sheā€™s finding her own ways to entertain herself. Yesterday I watched her toss every orange pepper out, and today I noticed 4 of the tiny padlocks I use on her cage were on the floor (they werenā€™t locked-the front doors secure, although I donā€™t totally trust her not to figure them out. The side doors donā€™t and those locks stay secured.) I have about $100 worth of toys from Diegoā€™s toy box in my cart; I just have to pull the trigger. Also time to get more creative with things around the house and maybe purchase some toy making parts for some DIY.

I got her a new harness. I never loved the flight suit. It felt bulky, I wasnā€™t sure it was a great fit, and I was sure she was going to chew through the shoulder straps. This time I am trying Leathers4Feathers. The Facebook Parrotlet group loves them and they donā€™t go over the wings so maybe training will be easier [emoji23][emoji23][emoji23][emoji23][emoji23]. Iā€™m also going to take it slower with this one. I moved too soon with the flight suit and she now flies away the instant she sees it.

And finally, I decided to teach her to fetch. The first round of training, she did what I wanted but I donā€™t think she knew thatā€™s what I wanted. After about the second try of training session 2, it clicked. We can certainly expand this trick, but she learned it in a total of about 6-7 minutes. This is a smart lil birdie. Hereā€™s the video.
