Cockatiel named Cassie
Hi! I'm new, oviously. I have never owned a bird before. Neither has my family. A while back, I pet sat my cousins cockatiel, Cassie, and fell in love with her. Cousin never spent time with her because she didn't have time. Cassie and I got along really well. Then cousin decided to give her to ME! She wanted what was best for Cassie, and she knew that we got along. She takes super good care of her animals. So know I get my very own bird!! I think that a cockatiel is a good first parrot, don't you? :green1:

good to hear she picked you! Cassie not your cousin :p

make sure to read through on the list of toxic things in regards to parrots and read through the cockatiel sub-forum. Be armed with knowledge before your new lord and master arrives home!

Congratulations and welcome to the forum. What a lovely story & new beginning for Cassie. This forum is a wealth of knowledge, so get reading to prepare for Cassie's arrival. I came here for years prior to getting my grey last August.

Please post pix when you can. :)
Best of luck to you both.

Congrats and welcome to Cassie! I have two cockatiels and have a few over the years. They're great birds for beginners to the bird world as they are relatively quiet, easy to train, don't take up too much space and are easy to train. Be sure to check out the cockatiels forum and go through the threads, they are very helpful and informative.

Again, welcome! Any questions you may have, feel free to ask!

Welcome to the forums, thanks for sharing your enthusiasm! Kudos to your cousin for having the insight leading to a win-win for all.

Cockatiels are ideal first-birds given their size, temperament, and ability to closely bond. Check out the forums for information and post whatever questions come to mind!!

Thank all for responding! This is such a friendly forum! Other forums I've been on are never this welcoming and helpful. I'll be sure to research about my new friend. I know that birds aren't the easiest pets and it's best to be prepared. She's made such great progress since Camille took her and I worked with her to, since Camille hasn't had time. Someone gave her to Cam after she flew in a window. Some idiot must have let her go!!!
