When Bingo wants out he dances for me.
If itā€™s safe I let him out.

Once on top of his cage he lets me know what he wants by body language.

It could be.
Sit in the window.
Sit in the kitchen.
Stay on the cage and groom.
Or.
He wants to sit with me.

More and more often he wants to sit with me.
This could partly be due to Bingo not feeling well.
But thatā€™s not what this post is about..

When he sits with me he nestles right against my face, grooms and falls asleep.
Now this leaves me with very few options of things I can do.
I can watch tv (with one eye).
I can fiddle with my cell phone a bit.
But mostly what I do is listen to audio books.
This doesnā€™t disturb Bingo and keeps me entertained (some).
But I tend to drift off into a not quite asleep not awake state.
And I forget Bingo is sitting on my chest.
So when my nose itches and I unthinkingly reach up to scratch I hit a sleeping yellow nape.

I donā€™t know how to solve this problem.

Just for fun I captured a photo of the twins doing synchronized grooming.

Sometimes your feathered bud loves a cuddle. It can be difficult to set limits. My grey insists on cuddling. After a few minutes, I work to give her a distraction. Going to fridge for a treat, giving her something to rip up, reading to her, watching something streaming, she even enjoys car rides, etc. It took me 7 months to stop her sleeping on me. Granted she had a reason. She lived in the hood of my hoodie for 4 days when city wide power was out after a blizzard. She only climbed out to eat drink or if I forced her out to change hoodies. My daughter commented that it's a good thing I feel cold and start bundling up at 72Ā°! So I had/have a large supply of them.

Is this a problem? šŸ˜œ My macaw looooves hanging out with me. I have been sick in bed the past week with a bad cold and my bird either sits on my pillow, next to me or on my chest. He will sit for hours and preen or sleep (and hold his poopā€”his parents taught him not to poop in the nest!). He makes fidgety sounds when he needs to be moved to his cage to do his (big) business.

Be thankful you have a loving bird. I know I am!

Itā€™s only a problem for him.
I donā€™t think he likes getting hit and woken up because I have an itch.
He use to fall asleep on the arm rest.
Our cuddle session is always in a recliner.
But this was no better, I have come close to nocking him off.
I am glad he can be so relaxed around me but itā€™s my bad not his.

And Bingo holds his poop too.
I try to make a point of not keeping him with me for more then 1/2 hour.

How sad that poor Bingo must suffer because you have an an issue with your nose! :ROFLMAO:

Such a poor guy! Well clearly you need to make some changes to meet his just needs!

Consider tying your arms in place or such action to save him from your ruddy awakening him. After all he is working hard to comfort you and allow you to drift off into a light sleep!

Aaaa, the Love of an Amazon!
