Base for Play gym?

I am a bit of a DIY nut. I love it. My love of DIY crafts has now gone to the birds. I want to make a play gym BUT I am not sure what would be the best for the base?

I want easy to clean but safe. I want something that will hold up. The stand I bought has this kind of thin wood with a shinny coat to the top.

We've had the thought of using a heavy duty Xmas tree stand and then place on like an office chair mat...

We have a tree that the stand had two metal sides it slide into. It's out in garage and I think the Xmas tree stand would be easy option... just so wheels.

Get a yard of linoleum, smoothest kind you can find. Glue that to a piece of 3 quarter plywood and use that for the base

Thanks for the ideas. For a big tree like play stand i like the idea of the xmass tree stand. For a smaller cage topper play place i like the linoleum idea.

I personally wouldn't use plywood due to formaldehyde urea. I'm paranoid of pretty much everything since building the budgie room. Everything is unbelievably toxic! I spent a fortune on safe materials.

Another idea, used by some of the pros, a disc harrowing plate, really nice! Great weight, will support a nice heavy branch! If lucky enough to live in boons town, no shipping!
