Would you allow someone like me to adopt your bird?

i visited the rescue centre today to donate some cages, they have an amazon in there that was tied up by kids who then played football with him, he's got broken bones and can't fly. there are so many amazons and other birds in there that need homes, i wish you lived in wales alien!! x

My Gosh, that's terrible, Melly! There really are very few parrot rescue centres here, which I guess is a good thing in a way. But that doesn't mean there aren't birds who just get past from pillar to post throughout their lifetimes. The main rescue centre I have found is more of a sanctuary. Most of the birds they take in become permanent residents, though you can adopt some. Almost all of them are cockatoos. When I have my own place I'd definitely consider rescuing a cockatoo or two.

Good luck alien I'm crossing all body parts for you and wishing you the best of luck

Melly, I live pretty much on the border of Wales - please don't tell me things like that :(:(:( lol.

I'd want to take them all xxxxxxxxxx

The lady has been really busy as they are desperately trying to sell their house, so hopefully she'll be able to call me sometime on Monday. I can let you guys know then.

Well guys, just spoke to Katrina (the lady selling her Amazon) on the phone for almost three hours. She still has one other person she is considering as a new owner for her boy Sundance, but she hinted that she preferred me already. She'll be in touch soon to let me know =]

Just reading in on your conversation and worried. Is it a set rehoming price. It almost sounds like you are being strung along. I want my gut to be wrong on this but please be careful with your money and your heart. Don't send a down payment Alienation. Your letter was clear.next request should have been reference check on owners part. I just have bad feeling about this. Sorry. (Hopefully I am wrong. )

Oh I won't be handing over any money until I meet the bird. She's shown me plenty of photos as well and we had a very long conversation. Trust me, I will not hand over ANY cash until I am taking the bird with me. If she's not okay with that that's fine, because I can just get a blue-front from a breeder as planned.

I would go with the breeder.........
You know exactly where the bird is coming from the history etc
Rather be safe than
in the long run

You reckon? I guess that's true, and it's not like this bird is in a bad situation and needs to be rescued...

Just spoke to my mum and boyfriend about it, they both think it'd be better to raise one from a baby and that I should get it from the breeder like I originally planned. Mum also thinks it would be better not to feel obliged to this woman, or feel like I have to tell her about everything that happens with the bird once I buy it. You guys agree?
I'd feel so bad backing out on her now...
