2 ringnecks
hey guys i am tania and i`ve 2 ringnecks my ringnecks are only eating carrots not anything else i`ve tried to give them more vagies but they dont eat why

birds will eat what they require in their diet.
I would offer a chop mix. you can mix a variety of vegetables, chop it, and serve.

well they are 10 months now and what kind of vegeis they should be??

Well, most veggies are good for them and some fruit is good too. Lots of people recommend pellets and I concur with them but my bird will NOT eat pellets unless they're hidden in birdy bread ;)

The only thing you must be careful for, is giving them fresh food from the unsafe lists. Here are some links for you to read -

I agree with Crimson - start with a small chop mixture, adding one or two new things as soon as they accept the current mix. It may also help to share food with them - prepare a 'salad' for yourself and feed them from your plate. Most parrots seem to feel that MUST have whatever their parront is eating. (Of course, your salad won't contain anything harmful such as salad dressing, salt, etc)

Good luck :)

ohh means ahhh i meant that how too make a little mixure what i should add in it can u seend me its pattern

I would suggest you make a small batch, heavy on the carrots that they like and sneak some extra goodies in there.

Also - most birds looove birdy bread - here are more links :

Ok, let's see what we can do with those ingredients :)

I'm going to assume the pulses you're refering to a bird safe but let me know what they are as well.

In the meantime, I recommend you make a small batch to try (keeping mind you said your birds only eat carrot so far) -

Start with :
1/2 cup raw grated carrot, mixed with
1/4 cup of cooked mixed pulses, rinsed well and cooled
1/4 guava, peeled, seeded and chopped finely
1 chilli, chopped with seeds (parrots looove chilli :) )

When they accept this and eat it regularly, increase the guava from a quarter to a half a quava and add the following to the basic mix, each time adding only one ingredient more and giving them time to accept it -

1/4 apple, peeled, seeded and chopped finely
1/4 tomato, peeled, seeded and chopped
1/4 cup cooked cooled peas
5cm piece of cucumber (peel and remove the watery seeds before mixing with the rest).

You may have to experiment to find out what they like but this should give you a basic idea.

Don't forget to try birdie bread! I noticed in another thread you asked for something that doesn't require baking - birdie bread doesn't have to be baked in an oven. You could try mixing some veg into a wholegrain type pancake mixture and cook it on a griddle or pan on the stove.

thanks alot i love you and this forum

Please make sure that you are not including the seeds from tomatoes and apples!
