Things like that make no sense to a sane person. It seems like it is happening more and more and the sad part is I can't think of anyway to prevent it. How do guard against a nut case?:(

I saw this on Sky News here! It never ceases to amaze me what goes on in peoples minds and how they can do such an evil thing, especially Children:(

We had a very similar thing happen here in the UK quite a few years ago now and alot of Children and Adults were killed:(

Watched it on CNN News..... so sad that innocent people including children were the victims of some nut case.
Those poor family members, not to mentioned the trauma the surviving ones will live with, for the rest of their lives.

I just read that on twitter, not near a TV right now, OMG
This world is getting way too crazy! Those poor children and the families.
Schools used to be a safe place.

This is just morbidly revolting! :( I can't begin to fathom how someone could do such an incredibly horrible, heartless thing... and I just heard on the news that someone in China stabbed 20 children to death today in a classroom setting as well. Also, someone opened fire in a shopping mall a few days ago, killing some people. Those who do such things are selfish savages :( :'(''

I actually had to turn the TV off because I got myself VERY worked up over this.:( I just don't understand this, and will NEVER understand this. I do understand that some people are "nuts, crazy, disturbed, angry at the world, and EVIL"....but I will just NEVER understand why innocent children have to suffer and die.

The reason I shut off the TV is because reporters are actually INTERVIEWING some children from that school. Don't they have any scruples???? Or common sense?

This is SO unbelievably sad, SO tragic, SO unnecessary...... :( :( :(

Yes, they are selfish savages....and they deserve the worst treatment that comes to mind.

Oh how horrible about the stabbing in China. :(

Does anyone think that the "Holidays" are bringing out the worst in people over the past decade or so? I'm beginning to think so. :( But there should NEVER be an excuse for such things, not ever.

too bad they killed the shooter, that was the easy way out, people like that don't fare too well in prison.

saw the headlines, been avoiding reading thee whole story

I didn't hear about the incident in China, terrible....

They say the shooter was 24, who could be so angry and twisted at that age to this and a second man in custody, WTF, 2 in on it...
incomprehensible

27 dead in Conn. shooting: Police investigate NJ connection | The Asbury Park Press NJ | app.com

I don't know if you all can view this link...it's to my local newspaper, which I'm subscribed to.

People often ask me if I live "under a rock" because I'm not necessarily up to date with politics and the latest news around the world (all the time). I tell you something: I like it under my rock. I understand that it may be borderline "ignorant", but I like it because humans do such scary things that I often wish to ignore them. :(

I have a son the age of the shooter. SandyBee, I absolutely LOVE your signature. I am a firm believer that people who have children are responsible for not only their physical well being, but their emotional one as well. So in turn, I want to say "We remain responsible for whom we raise."

Me too Wendy, I like under my rock.
I also have a son around the same age and we do remain responsible for whom we raise.
It is so hard to understand why people do these things, IF it's mental illness, why was this young man not helped before?????
Why so much violence in this world now?????

ughhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

I'm gonna say this...........

"You can lead a horse to water, but you can't make it drink."

Ultimately, the actions of the ones you raise are solely the responsibility of themselves. My 22 year old was raised basically by me, I was a single parent by the time he was 7 yrs. old. Prior to that, I had no control over what he was exposed to, learned, etc. I can tell you this, the "stories" I heard about what happened while he was with his mom was terrifying to me! I did my best to instill good morals and values in him but they didn't stick. He has never done anything extreme and doubt he ever will, but his temper is his biggest problem, I think that will only change with maturity. (I pray) I actually just talked to him on the phone and he asked if I had heard about the shootings, my response was I wasn't ready to talk about it (still haven't read the story myself). He is a religious person as well but it hasn't changed his temper.

All I'm saying is that I refuse to be blamed OR take responsibility for his actions, they are his and not what I taught him!!

thought I'd add, his mom was killed on her back porch, bullet to the head, the case is still open and no one knows if it was murder or suicide, her boyfriend at the time spent a year in jail over it and was finally released...........I will not go into other details than that. He was at my house when this happened.

No we can not take responsibility in the actions of others including our kids. My son has his own issues and we don't see eye to eye on everything. But as a parent if I saw him slipping into some sort of trouble or if I saw he needed help I would move heaven and earth!!

All you can do is teach them right from wrong and instill morals and values.
In most cases this will result in a decent human being, not necessarily perfect.

So terribly heartbreaking. :( My heart and prayers go out to all affected by this horrible tragedy.

This was an act of pure evil! I just can't understand why people do such horrible horrible things. Heartbreaking.

Oh so true! I have six children (all grown now) and I agree 1000% with you wharfrat. I don't take credit for their accomplishments nor their failings. They are responsible for their own actions both good and bad.

My mother was in Guatemala a few months ago and something similar happened on a much lesser scale.

The guy was high when he went into the Tactic elementary school. he beheaded two children, raped one of them, and then a third got away and told the teachers.

Because the system was so corrupt in that small village the people took justice into their own hands and linched the guy in town square. They tied him to a post, covered him in gasoline, and lit him on fire.

It sickens me that this kind of stuff happens in our world!

Wharf...I am speechless at what you said...I really, really am. :(

And I did NOT mean it like that. God forbid, if my now almost 21 year old did something bad, I would certainly NOT take responsibility because we have taught him better. I have to rephrase that somehow....and PLEASE forgive me if it brought back bad memories...I truly did not have any bad intentions :(

We are not the only ones "molding" our children, unfortunately. Peer pressure, friends...they play a HUGE role. :(

Again Wharf, I am so sorry...

No need to apologize, just felt I needed to take a stance on parents being responsible for their kids actions. I don't have any guilt or remorse over the past, I did what I thought was best. :)

I am in Australia, so clearly my opinion is futile, but the harm done by letting every man and his dog own a gun is so obvious to everybody else - WHY can Americans not see it?

So very, very sad. :(
