What have I done?

So are you getting the Prevue Hendryx cage? The black flight cage? :)

I think I am going to go with this cage!

Corner Aviary Medium

It's a big cage, and he can move around when were not here. I have a little time before I can bring him home so I can save the money and get the cage I want. On the other hand, I did just see my bird again today and he is smaller than I remembered. So I am thinking about this cage as well.

Prevue Hendryx - Prevue Aviary Flight Cage 31 x 20 The one you suggested and are using. :p

I like both, so it's between them two! I know I should save some money and get the one your using, but on the other hand I like the other one a lot. I like giving my animals all the space I can! Especially if they are caged animals. He will be out of the cage a lot with my wife, but when we go some place it will be nice for him to have a nice big cage to play in.

Ok. :) Whatever, call me biased or something, but I like the black flight cage just because it is wider. Your conure will just mostly use the top. Parrots mostly stay at the top. The aviary has little top space which is not veRy good for hanging toys or space efficient. I understand why u would want the aviary though. :) it definitely is bigger.

Ok, you know what, please forget my last post! I'm sorry! :( I was looking at a different corner aviary! Argh Im sorry! It's huge, just forget what i said. I searched the cageand got a similar yet smaller one. Sorry! Lol...

Wow, that is a big cage. :p

Maybe I was thinking WAY to big with the other cage. lol

Yeah, I will go with that cage than. That looks like a good size cage to put a lot of toys and fun stuff for my guy to play with. Well I should say my wife's guy to play with. I am doing all the research so I can get our area ready for the guy.
I still owe $99 dollars for him, but I am going to take care of that on Tuesday. :p After that I will need a few weeks to get the cage and supplies for the bird, that will take me right up to my Thanksgiving vacation, so I will let her pick it up right after Thanksgiving.

I know you all said "Bring him home now", but that would be devastating for the guy, being I don't have a cage, food, toys, supplies, and the area not ready for a bird. :p The guy has been at the Pet shop for four months now, so a month and half will be ok. I will give her the bird before Christmas and give her toys for Christmas. I like what one guy said, I think I will change it up thou a little. I will take her let her see the SOLD sticker, go home for the night than take her back in the morning to pick the bird up. :p Got to play it up a little guys!! Being it will be an early gift.

Also another cool thing, my purchases comes with a free check up to a vet the store works with. Being this guy is the only Vet with a avian certification within 200 miles of my location, I got no choice to the one the store tells me to go too.

Thanks for the picture and the update!! I think what your doing by waiting till after thanksgiving is the best decision. Yeah we all want you to bring him home "now" but considering that they will hold him will be the best. One major move and thats it!! Anywhoo he a so cute!!! No wonder your wife fell in love with that lil guy!! Also maybe when you go see this vet you can ask if there is anyone closer that he would trust. (or is he close, but just the only one for miles?) Im excited for you guys. Again congrats on the cute lil guy!!

The Vet is close and is the only one for miles. The one thing I am happy about with Jacks is the girl that is taking care of my bird is a bird owner herself and has her own conure. So that makes me feel better.

I need advice on heaters guys!! Here is what I got in my basement right now.

Heaters | Portable Electric | Cabinet Heaters - GlobalIndustrial.com (it's not up and running yet)

I got two of these that are not up and running yet. Lasko 755320 Ceramic Tower Heater - Walmart.com

I got this running!! [ame="http://www.amazon.com/Lasko-758000-Cyclonic-Ceramic-Heater/dp/B000QC77A8/ref=sr_1_5?ie=UTF8&qid=1350997503&sr=8-5&keywords=ceramic+heaters"]Amazon.com: Lasko 758000 Cyclonic Ceramic Heater: Home & Kitchen[/ame]

I also got this one running! [ame="http://www.amazon.com/Honeywell-HZ-709-Radiator-Digital-Controls/dp/B000FVAK8G/ref=sr_1_8?ie=UTF8&qid=1350997537&sr=8-8&keywords=radiator+heaters"]Amazon.com: Honeywell HZ-709 7 Fin Oil Filled Radiator Heater with Digital Controls: Home & Kitchen[/ame]

My basement gets really cold if I don't have heaters, so any advice on what I should buy for my comfort as well as the birds would be helpful.
When it gets really cold I will need all the heaters to keep it at a 73 degree level. :p That's the only thing that sucks about the basement. L0L

I got the Perdue wrought iron play top cage online thru Walmart it's 18x18x54 and my sun conure loves it! It also has a seed shield around it that catches the seeds so less mess! I'd advise looking at walmarts page they are the same cages for a lot less $$!

Hey guys, a little up date.

So I walked into the pet store to pay off the rest of the bird and what do I forget? The taxes. LoL I played with him/her for an hour and he/she was the nicest bird in the whole pet store. He/She was rubbing his head against my hand and licking my fingers. I put him on my shoulders and he was crawling all around in and picking at my hair. If I was not a big bird guy before, he/she is making a good case why I should become one and get my own bird some day.

I think next time I will go with a breeder for my bird. I know the pet store is way overpriced, but I guess you can't overprice happiness and fate!

So tomorrow I am going back after work and I am going to go to pet smart first and get him/her a few toys. Any advice on toys and food I should get?

Stuff he can shred. There are toys made from those chinese finger cuffs that are great. Paper, small wood chew toys...
Matbe a hard plastic ball.

wooden blocks, popsicle sticks, finger traps. Mostly wooden toys conures widdle wood. They can tear a wooden perch up really quick

I went to the pet store to visit my bird, and give him/her the toys I bought. He/she is doing well. Can't wait to get him/her home. I like how he/she was bobbing his head to get my attention to scratch under his/her eye. It was funny, he/she really liked it when I scratched his/her head and around the eye. Than he/she bobbed his/her head and nipped my finger until I did it again. :p

I hope I did the uploads of the pictures right, enjoy!! Patrick is his/her name and I think my wife and I will stick to it. That's what she has called the bird all along. :p

This is my very first thread on this site! Just wanted to give everyone and update! Had my conure for a good while now! I had moved him to a huge cage now! He is doing well and just wanted to update everyone! Thanks for all the help! Here is a few pics if my conure! He now will have a friend! I adopted a canary that had broken her foot, it makes the bird unsellable so I went ahead and adopted being I had an extra flight cage. I won't put them together! I know better! I just think a friend even in another cage will be beneficial to both my birds! It should be good right? Even of they are two completely different birds? I heard that a canary can even learn to talk???

For some reason it's only letting me upload one picture at a time. Weird! That was his new cage! Here is his new friend with the broken foot. :-(
