We Have An Egg

She's doing okay. Still very hormonal.

It's so weird but her egg bulge disappeared? Maybe she laid the egg and ate it? Is that even possible??

I took advantage of Venus' clinginess and put her in the shower. At first she wanted no part of it. She hadn't bathed in weeks but she began getting into it and fully bathed. I was starting to call her pig pen.

Poor thing. She looks shell-shocked. Lol! Has she taken a break from the egg laying?

Haha, poor Venus, she wants to shower, but she has two eggs to look after that suddenly doubled in size overnight (I really need to see the photo of her trying to sit on top of this egg mountain:04:)

Egg update! No change. She is still sitting on her ginormous fake eggs, won't let me take a picture, but she does come to me and is spending time with me eating. I am really trying to take a picture of her on her fake eggs because yes it is comical. She can't get both eggs under her so she is crooked on one egg and trying to snuggle up to the second egg. When I come up to take a pic, she runs too me looking to be fed. No Venus, I'm not regurgitating for you.

So following the vets orders, we are letting her sit on the fake eggs as long as she needs hoping she will get over them.

Stephen she has taken a break from laying, Thank God!!! Her last lay was 4/19/16 so she has over 30 days of not laying.

I'm so happy to read this! I was really worrying for her. Poor Venus was belting those eggs out fast and furious for a while, there. It's good that she's finally getting some recovery time.

Great job buying the false eggs, Tracey!

I feel a bit odd posting advice when I dont even have a bird yet but I'll share what I've heard. There was a presentation on Ekkies a few months ago at my bird club meeting and egg eating was mentioned. Apparently its not uncommon. Also, I watch a few nest sites (Berry college eagle cam---they just fledged, and bluebird cam) Last year one of the eggs was not viable...it got eaten.

Today I put my phone on video, walked up to Venus' play top and started filming. I was trying to get a video before she got off her eggs. so I could get a still shot or a good video. Well.... No hesitation, she gets up, comes at me, grabs my phone and tosses it.

Here is my Angry Bird, look at her eyes.

Today Venus refused to be ignored. As I was walking by her cage she jumped, flew and landed by latching onto my shirt by beak only. First time she has ever done that. Yes she stayed with me for a while which I take as a positive sign that she's loosing interest in eggs lol!

Hahaha! She was like, "And where do you think YOU'RE going?!?"

I hope it turns out she really is losing interest in her eggs. If she does completely, I'd suggest getting rid of the box in the hopes of getting it off her mind. (Jedi mind trick, anyone?)

That does sound promising, fingers crossed!!

Pleased that she def wants to be with her mommy again, promising. DYT it's worth reducing the eggs one by one over next few days and then as Stephen says withdraw the box also?

Well Venus tossed one of her fake eggs out this afternoon and she's been banging in her box all day but hasn't tossed the other one yet. Could this be the end????

I'm really hoping it's the end, too. She needs a rest.

How is she doing today ?

She still has one egg in the box but it sounds like she's remodeling inside and she has knocked some holes through the the box. I also caught her sneaking off her cage to go to my office where Buzz is (door is closed). As soon I asked "What are you doing?", she went under her cage to the other side and climbed back on top, lol. She has spent time with me each day, like today she had to ride my shoulder while I vacuumed, make coffee, watch me get breakfast ready, AND she bathed on her own today!!! No forced bathing. I'm wondering since she laid the second egg 2-3 days after the first, will she ditch the second egg 2-3 days after the first egg?
