It amazes me there are so few exotic/avian specialists. I was lucky that I had one reasonably close to me and reachable within a 1 hour drive.

It is a general veterinary practice, but one of the partners is a well respected avian/exotic specialist.

He would be a good choice for any in the South of the UK, fairly centrally located in Andover, so reasonably easily reached by car from anywhere in Hampshire, plus Berkshire, Surrey and parts of Wiltshire. They provide a 24/7 service, with emergency out of hours telephone.

The practice itself is very nice and the staff are lovely.

For the Ft Lauderdale Fl/Pompano/Deerfield Beah....Backos Bird Clinic is wonderful.
I drive from Naples FL to Deerfield to take my IRN and Cockatiel to Sam Backos.
He treats only birds, except for the pet chicken he adopted and lives at the clinic....

Just a note Paumanok Veterinary Hospital in Patchogue, New York no long sees macaws. Their justification is that they have developed tinnitus and the loud screeching is too much for them to handle and that more often than not the owners of the macaws she has seen are typically afraid of their own birds.

Good for people in that area to know, though. In an emergency, a macaw parront wouldn't want to find out about this policy upon arrival.

What about toos? And sennies have a really high pitched whistle.
 
I have used the same vet since I got Dante in January of this year. Nail trim = $25, beak trim = $35, wing trim = $35, I think when I took her for her exam when I first got her it was like $55 or so. Nice vet and nice and helpful staff will ooo and ahh over your baby.

Exotic Animal Care: Exotic and Avian Pet Care

Not sure how many other members are near me, but she is the only vet here that is even close to being certified for avian species. She is a good and thorough vet and will go in on her days off or stay late if you have an emergency with your bird.

I also like this vet clinic because they only have specific techs handle birds - if that tech isn't available they move your appointment. It comforts me knowing that my baby is being handled by people who are trained properly, rather than people who mostly only deal with cats and dogs.

Only downside is they have to do referrals for surgical needs for avian species - but that is better to me than not knowing what they are doing and faking it.

The Faculty of Veterinary Medicine in Saint Hyacinthe Quebec is where my local vet does referrals for surgical needs for avian species. Anyone have any experience there? (Just in case I ever have that kind of emergency).

UPenn has avian vets, though I've never had to take my birds there. My vet is in Northeast Philly, Dr. Gulliford at Somerton Animal Hospital. It's a bit of a ways from you, and although he's not an avian vet, he handles all kinds of exotics and is a bird owner himself.
