I'll add the vet I use for the Chicagoland area.

Chicago exotics, Stephanie Moy and Katy Parr
Skokie, IL
847-329-8709

There's actually a bunch of avian vets in the Chicago area, but I've had great experiences at this vet office overall.

Anyone have any personal recommendations for vets in New Zealand (Auckland)? I have used the Lynnfield Vets but i have heard mixed reviews...

Can anyone help me find a vet for my Nila in the greensboro, NC area?

Anyone have experience with this vet:

SummerTree Animal and Bird Clinic
12300 Inwood Rd #102, Dallas, TX 75244
(972) 387-4168

That is where I plan on taking my fids for their next check up/DNA test. Is anybody familiar with them, or have a vet around the same area you would recommend to me?

Also I may be moving to Lubbock, TX in the next 6 months or so, so if you know of an avian vet there you would recommend to me, that would make the moving process much less stressful on us. Thanks.

Lexington KY - the only small animal vet on this side of the state, unless you go 2 hours east.

Pennyroyal Small and Exotic Animal Hospital

Lexington, KY 40503
Phone: 859-277-4315

On the eastside, Green Bay, Wisconsin.

Dr. Daniel Grey

San Diego area, specifically North County:

All Pets Animal Hospital
285 N. El Camino Real
Encinitas, CA 760-634-2022

Dr. Brian Loudis DVM, Dipl, ABVP is exceptional and very experienced. Dr. Nicholas Helfrich DVM also practices avian medicine and is highly recommended.

For user review on other North County avian vets, feel free to PM me.....

I've read all 10 pages, and I don't think I saw any from SF bay area.. Which ones do you recommend from SF to San Mateo? Thanks!

Does anyone know any avian/good standard vet clinics in the Southwest of England? Preferably in Devon?

I have yet to come across another member in the Oregon area, but our avian vet is:

Dr. Marli Lintner
The Avian Medical Center
(503) 635-5672
15952 SW Quarry Road
Lake Oswego, OR
97035

She's been working with birds since 1984 and has the only avian-exclusive practice in Oregon.

The staff is very friendly and Dr. Lintner is awesome at what she does :)

I totally agree, that's where I take Zilla! Dr. Lintner is awesome! :)

This is further south than San Mateo, but I thought I should reply to you just in case!

SF Bay Area Avian Vets:
San Jose / Santa Clara / Silicon Valley

West Valley Pet Clinic
1360 South De Anza Blvd.
San Jose, CA 95129
(408) 996-1155

Mon—Fri: 8am—6pm
1st & 3rd Sat: 8am—2pm

Dr. Timothy Govers (head avian vet, retiring Jan. 2015)
Dr. Valerie Brons (avian vet, taking over as head avian vet)
Dr. Aleisha Nesset (not avian vet, but still very good handling, knowledge, and understanding of avian medicine)

I like that the nurses and staff are good with birds as well as the doctors, and there is specialized equipment for birds (ex. gram scales with perch mounts). Pricing is very reasonable. They are very kind and thorough. Dr. Govers has been Makana's main vet for 3 years. Dr. Nesset helped splint and medicate Makana recently in a last minute emergency with her broken leg, despite not being avian certified like the other doctors. I still trust her very much after seeing how well she took care of Makana when no one else was available.

-------

In an emergency when West Valley is not open, this 24/7 hospital squeezed me in and treated me well - They seem to have at least one avian "specialist" on call at all times. You can walk in or make appointments:

Adobe Animal Hospital
4470 El Camino Real
Los Altos, CA 94022
(650) 948-9661

Dr. Curt Nakamura is an avian specialist vet (not an avian certified vet) who's on call Weds-Sat. He did a good job with handling Makana, diagnosing, x-rays, and a quick tape splint. However, the hospital does not have a lot of specialty equipment for birds. This made me nervous (along with some of the apparent inexperience of some nurses) but they pulled it together just fine, even administering injections, so I really can't complain considering that they're open 24/7 for emergencies.

Thanks! the one my friend referred me is near West Valley Pet Clinic. The name is For The Bird, the doc's name is Fern VanSant and the address is 1136 South De Anza Blvd., Suite D, San Jose, California 95129. Have you heard of this vet?

What would be nice, particularly in an emergency, is one of those in-forum "pin maps", where users can drop a "pin" - clicking on it gives information as to name of the clinic, hours, phone number, etc. When an emergency occurs, visual assists are easier than reading posts!

Just an idea. I've seen them on other forums, for users to post their location, etc. Of course, being a bit of a Luddite, I have no idea how hard it is to do (or not?).
