- My beautiful SI Eclectus Zephyr and my handsome B&G macaw Vandal, daughter's Sun Conure Loki and son's GCC Blaze
I actually had to start a stupid new medication that has turned me into an insomniac, so I woke up at 1:30 in the morning, which totally made the wait worse than Christmas for a kid -.- And I was staring at hubby all night contemplating waking him up so that he'd have to suffer with me. But I was good, really. I waited until 8:30 and let him sleep.
Then I jumped on him and yelled "BIRDBIRDBIRDBIRDBIRDBIRDBIRDBIRD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" Strangely, I don't think he appreciated the wakeup call. Not sure why not :54:
We went to pick baby up at 1:30. I literally bounced in my seat the whole ride over with my hands shaking.
We brought Vandal home and I resigned myself to leaving him alone to settle in while staring at him surreptitiously, but he wasn't having that.
He paced the floor.. "Hold me!!"
"Let me oooouuuuuut!"
Not one to disappoint, I did.
He was actually pretty shy at first, mostly wanting to snuggle into my neck and make little baby noises. One of the dogs walked into the room (didn't manage to get any pictures of this) and he suddenly decided he wasn't a little baby anymore but a BIG BIRD, and stood up very tall and threatening like. Not sure the dog noticed wasn't even looking at him. But in any case, after that he turned back into a normal bird and wanted to go exploring.
I did not get as many pictures as I would have liked, since I was too distracted with love and shakiness. He kept trying to plunge his giant tongue up my nostrils and really, really wanted to stuff his head down my shirt.
He ate like a champ -- everything I offered him, but was OMG excited when he got the bountiful harvest parrot blend from MSBS. I think it was the dried bananas that set him off. He started yelling and couldn't get off my arm fast enough to get into his cage when he saw what I was putting in there.
