As his new mommy it is, of course, my job to see that he learns to behave as a proper terror. I just figured I'd get started on the screaming early :D

Hah.. I'm not sure how well you can tell or not tell in this picture (I'm holding my arm out at max extension trying to snap a picture from a screen I can't see x.x), but Vandal decided to lay down on my throat with his head on my hand and take a nap today.

My hand finally fell asleep and I couldn't take it anymore, and I had to wake him up. Not to mention.. OMG birds are WARM! I mean, my other birds are just as warm as he is, but he's so big that you really notice it o.o

Here's Vandal watching some Pokemon with the daughter and snuggling.

And as long as she keeps scratching, he'll continue to sit just like that...

Hah yeah, they watched about a whole episode like that. At this rate, he'll start yelling "Pikachuuuuuuu!" when he wants scratches.

Tusk was my cartoon bird. He loved watching those things...

The first time he looked me in the eye and said "I'm Bart Simpson, who the hell are you?!" though...

that was the soda up the nose moment!

We were hoping he would pick up "I tawt I taw a puddy tat." But of course, that would be too much to ask...

Omg, haha! Of course he'd choose Bart over Tweety. Too perfect!

It suits him...

He does have a phrase he uses around cats in context: "GET OUT OF HERE!"

He also uses that on people that annoy him sometimes...

Vandal is just too precious! He's still got such a baby look to him, even though he's weaned. You're so lucky having him home so soon when he's still got baby in him. Soon he will be in his "terrible twos" phase;) But I'm sure you'll raise him up to be a wonderful birdie, just like your other babies:)

Vandal is just gorgeous! Congratulations on your new family member:) Sure looks like he is settling right in!

Thank you! I think he's pretty gorgeous, too :)

And I'll miss it when he stops being such a baby.. he's just so... snuggly and sleepy. But I'm sure he'll be an adorable toddler terror, too!

Thank you so much for sharing your homecoming and life with Vandel. I just love the pictures you posted of your puppy macaw lap bird. What a snuggle bunny for sure. I just love baby parrots as they are so innocent and affectionate. I have always loved raising baby parrots getting them to be healthy and happy adults. I see your pictures and remember raising all my boys and how much I enjoyed this part of living with parrots.

I know from your experience and another recommendation if I go with another breeder for another companion I will use your breeder. I know I would get a quality well bred and raised parrot. I would love to get a Panama Amazon from them if I don't go the route of adoption.

I look forward to more pictures and stories of your family and Vandel's adjustments.

It makes me so happy to have people to share my baby with who can appreciate how adorable he is :)

If you do get your Panama and you come to Arizona, let me know! We will have to get together!

My adult birds are still pretty snuggly... They're both my biggest lap birds. That doesn't necessarily go away...

This thread is getting too long -.- but if I started a new thread every time I wanted to say something new about Vandal, I think I'd get banned for spamming

We've been working on putting his hoodie on this week, and he's been a very good boy about it. He'll put his head pretty much anywhere there is a banana chip.

And once his head is through the hole if you say "Ohhh you're such a good boy" and rub his little side he just flops over into a puddle of melted bird. Not sure he even notices it is there :p

So at that point, velcroing it up around his body was really negligible.

I sent the pictures to one of my friends and she said I should make him a Pokemon costume for Halloween. I told her I would if I ever finished my niece's stupid time-consuming Elsa costume that is making me want to stab myself. It was at that point that I realized... that the chances of Vandal NOT learning how to swear.. while he is living in my sewing room (and the room where hubby plays Dark Souls) is like... NIL.

Ahhhhhhh SO MUCH CUTENESS!!!! Congrats!!!! Aw so cute I am so happy for you guys! I don't know what I would have done at 1:00am! I'm surprised you didn't jump out the window and run all the way there! They might have been a little creeped out with you standing on their front porch at 5:00 in the morning! That's probably what I would have done though.... :D
