Cookie, the scarlet I was fostering found her forever home, so i was left with a macaw cage that had no bird in it. Totally unacceptable. So Chicken has been upgraded out of the double stack with Tiki into her own mansion.
I had talked to the rescue I got them both from about trading her the double stack for another macaw cage so that Tiki could be upgraded as well, but she brought up a good point. All he would really be gaining is height, and I think 4 inches in width. But with him being blind, extra height may be more of a hazard than a blessing. Thinking about it. I see her point so I am going to keep the double stack for Tiki just so if he falls, there is less of a chance that he will be severely hurt than if he were to fall in a taller cage. On the plus side, I gained some extra storage since the bottom cage is empty. However I was told that I needed to do something with it, if I was gong to store stuff in it, so you couldn't see everything piled up in there. I think I did pretty good, and now all the bird stuff is as close to them as it can be, and all in one spot. Success!
