I'm not sure why Cotton didn't take the same re-entry route he used before, but his attempts to go back in his cage have occurred sporadically for an hour and a half, poor sleepy guy!

We are now in bed, but rather than using the boing, perches, and rope perch all placed around and on the front door, we tried such manuevers as trying to open the breeding box door with our beak; or hanging on the wrong side of the front door gazing wistfully at the perch on the other side; or staring straight down at our sleeping perch and attempting teleportation; or my favorite, hanging on the side and waiting for a hot air balloon.

There were multiple rounds of me making his attempted perimeter breaches accessible - all small doors propped open with perches nearby and ladders to the top, for example - and many rounds of talking - and a few rounds of Do Not Want Human Help or Holding Perch NoNoNo StepUp

And finally, success! I was too slow to capture the actual entry; he may have just flung himself inward at that point!

Fast asleep already :)

Look at him working hard!
I adore cotten he’s so adorable with his little chicken wings !
He did work hard! And kept trying different things. And also kept starting to fall asleep, at which point mean mommy would show up with her scary arm again 😂

It's now cloudy and going to rain/snow the rest of the day, so nobody in my house is motivated to get much done ;)

Cotton is not as keen on coming out today after his all day adventure :)

I think he liked it@
My babies love Twinkle Twinkle little star

What did you sing?

Oh, erm.... It went something like this

Goodnight, goodnight, goodnight little Cotton
I hope that you have good dreams
Goodnight, goodnight, goodnight little Cotton
Maybe you'll dream of beans

On repeat

....In retrospect his expression makes perfect sense

😆

(he did love it, got all fluffy and soft eyed and cocked his head a bunch)

Have you seen my “you know you’ve had birds a long time when…” thread?

There’s something in there about shamelessly making up goofy songs for your bird. Congratulations!!

Also, I’ve been reading a lot of science fiction. It occurs to me that Cotton is almost a featherless biped.

You have a special creature here.
