Tell me about your Alexandrines - Stories, Videos, Pictures etc

okay :) I haven't brought him outside yet, but we have a deck & I'm sure he'll like that.
thanks guys!

He'll love it!
I was reading a recent issue of Australian Birdkeeper and please forgive me because I can't remember exactly what it said :| But there was an article about how good the sun is for their feathers. It will brighten up his colour enormously, which in turn is important in helping to keep him healthy (something to do with the colour of their feathers and their immune systems etc.)
Take him for a bath and and then let him dry off in the sun and he will be fluorescent!

I think just regular baths will help with the smell, or alternatively you could make him a shallow bath (we use a flat wide terracotta base for pot plant bought new only for baths) and put some lemon or orange peel in the water and squeeze the peel slightly to get the fragrance out.
Although I have no idea if this is ok for their skin but I'm sure it won't hurt

so he loved the lemon peel in his bath, & loved being in the sun. he put he back directly to the sun & when the wind blew he would stretch out his wings & just enjoy it. I'm probably gonna take him outside more often, he looked beautiful afterwards & very happy!

Geez I love all your guys's Alexes! They all seem so sweet!

I am a coffee addict! My alex, Vino seems to want to take after her new mama because every time I come out of the kitchen with a cup of coffee she stretches toward me and had even tried to grab the rim of the cup with her beak a couple of times! Of course I don't let her have any because caffeine is no good for birds, I usually go and get her a glass of water to drink from which she loves also... I just think its adorable (along with just about everything else she does) :) :) :)

Awww, that sounds so cute :o

There has been no sun here lately. Just lots of rain and frost.
I would love to give my fids baths outside but they would freeze by the cold wind. If it is sunny the wind is VERY cold.
It's coming into spring soon, so my birdies will be able to have many baths. :D

so Reggie has been doing the cutest things, every time I compliment him saying "oh you're so beautiful, I love you so much" or things like that he'll ruffle up his feathers & stretch out his neck like "yah I know I'm awesome" ^.^

he also really likes Jack White & The White Stripes. XD he'll bob his head up & down & rock back & forth whenever I turn either of them on!

That sounds super cute! :D
I haven't found any music that my alexandrines will dance to/bob their head etc.
They are very intelligent creatures aren't they?

so I'm wondering about other people's opinions on me drinking alcohol & then handling my bird. bad? do others do it? just curious to see.

Bert LOVES it when I sing him Somewhere over the rainbow! I think it must be because it's high pitched, whenever I sing it, he starts to sing along! In his own little squawks and mumbles of course! :)
If I have an alcoholic drink that won't stop me from handling Bert, but if I had several then that would. I think as long as you're not drunk and your senses aren't impaired then it's fine, just as long as you have your whits about you! :)

Aww, those meow . i just couldn't. That was so cute
Heres my baby, echo . From when i adopted him to now :D I love him to pieces ! He does the funniest things. Every day in the morning he calls out to me and if i don't come he gets upset and if i offer him my hand he will just run away from it because hes giving me " the silent treatment" and 5 minutes later hes calling me again. Also, hes such a little player. Every time my cousin comes to my house he whistles at her , like a real guy -.- it the cutest thing ever !

Diesel is 2yrs old and a cutie pie. Just getting his male neck plumage.

He says:
"Hulllooo, how are yoooooooouuuu?"
"Whats youuuuur name?"
"Peekaboooo"
"Hop Up"
"Deeeezle Weeezle Eeeeeeezle!!!"
"Away!!!" and "Come On!" (To the dogs)
"Good Booooooy"
"ooooohhhhh" (when he spots something he likes)
"Pew Pew Peeew" (like a kid playing cowboys and Indians with a gun!)

He's fairly selective about touching but likes getting close on your neck and enjoys having you blow hot breath through his neck...he usually whispers "good boooooy" when you do that! He will let you stroke his head, usually in the mornings and loves clambering under the duvet with us in bed and playing peekaboo. He even enjoys sitting with us when we have a spa (not IN the spa!)
He loves baths and we put a large plastic dish on his cage with semi-warm water and he plays about in that for ages, hopping in and out and splashing about like a madman. After that I always blow dry him, he flops about in the warm air and enjoys contorting himself all over the place to get the best air coverage!!!

Also loves his own reflection!

he's a wonderful talker, he even takes words he's learned & makes up sentences.

he does have a new little quirk though, when he gets a new toy he REALLY likes, he walks around it repeatedly in a circle, says "hey baby" to it alot of times, then gets on top of it & bangs his beak against it a bit & wiggles his behind all over it. I'm assuming due to his age it's some kind of hormonal mating thing, as he's also been doing the funky head bopping "dancing" quite often. the toy butt rubbing I try to discourage, is that the right thing to do?

I hope everyone & their birds are doing amazing & happy & are feeling good!
