I found out about Tapatalk on here a while ago and figured I'd give it a shot, it had really bad reviews 'cause of the new update, it's been updated a few times and I decided to try it out today.
I just don't know how to use it.

Are you not able to look through the different sections of a forum, to then pick one and read topics in that section? Or did I just miss it?
Same question about private messages, are you not able to access them unless someone sends you a PM?

I moved your thread into the "Technical Support" section, however, I am unfortunately unable to help you with Tapatalk as I don't use it at all.

I use TT every. day. It's how I do most of my modding....I get SO ANNOYED when they do the stupid updates and then I have to figure everything out again *sigh* I do know that the version you're using differs if your using apple vs android (I'm on an iPhone).

Let me get some screen shots for you that might help navigation -gimme a sec

Ok, this is the main screen you should see-

at the top you see "parrotforums.com" with a down arrow - click it and you will see the various forum sections.

On the main screen again, the upper right corner there are three horizontal lines- click it and it brings up this menu where you can access your messages etc

Back on the main screen you'll see symbols halfway down

From left to right-- hot topics/trending topics, new posts based on time, all subjects, subscribed topics, participated topics....if you click one it will sort the various threads accordingly.

I hope this helps- let me know if you have more questions! :)

Thank you so much Shirre, I honestly don't know how I missed all of that ... What a div :p
But in my defense, I haven't been on it much so I haven't gotten a chance to thoroughly check it out.
Was it like that when they updated it a while ago and everyone moaned about it?

This last update they changed the layout of everything -it was really frustrating having to re-learn where everything was at. One of the updates before that they changed it so you had to have a TT profile set up in addition to your forum profile-- it took me a good day to fiddle with it and figure it out....it was very frustrating. BUT! Once you get the hang of it and figure out where everything's at, etc it's nice-- I prefer navigating/posting through TT than doing it through a web browser screen.

Maybe I wasn't that stupid then. I think I'd prefer to do everything or most on here unless I didn't have access to a computer, I don't really like to type on the phone too much. But I guess it's like with anything, takes some getting used to :)

Yeah, I rarely have time to sit down at the computer to do anything, so it's just more convenient for me to use TT-- plus you can get (real time) notifications sent to your phone when someone replies to a subscribed thread or sends you a pm, so that feature is really handy. The forum allows something similar, but the notification gets sent via email.

You'll also need to turn on notifications in your phone as well to make it work- go to settings, notification center, locate tapatalk and click on it-- then choose your notification type (none, banner, or alerts) and then where you want the notification to show up- turn on "show in notification center" and then you can also have them appear on your lock screen. To find the notification center take your finger and start at the top of your screen and swipe straight down, and then swipe up to close it.

Ooh, I have to find those settings, would be a lot easier.
I always get so excited when I see I have an unread email 'cause I think it's a PM from here, then I usually end up disappointed, TT would eliminate that!

Lol! I don't like the email version because then I either don't get them or my inbox gets bombarded [emoji57]

Let me know if the steps I posted above don't work or if you need more help-- you can always PM me too [emoji41]

Couple things, when push notifications is turned on and all the boxes are ticked, that means it'll notify me of those things, right?
Might be something wrong then, not getting any notifications. Got a PM and an email, no notification on TT.

Second thing; how do you thank people?
-never mind this one, figured it out :p-

Just noticed you updated your post with the notifications, so nevermind this post!
Very helpful! :) I really appreciate it

You'll also need to turn on notifications in your phone's settings too for it to fully work-- see my post above for the instructions

To thank people, click on the post itself and a black menu bubble will pop up- click "thanks". If you want to edit a post of yours, do the same thing only click "edit" instead.

I've received an email purporting to have come from the forum via "trending from tapatalk" (or somesuch). I've never used tapatalk, never want to use tapatalk, don't want to get emails from tapatalk, have never accessed tapatalk and have never given my email to tapatalk.

Has this come from the forum? I can't imagine how my email address could otherwise have been accessed, because it isn't published on here.

Strudel, please rest assured that the email address you provided when registering with the forum is NEVER given out to anyone, nor do any programs have access to such private information, including Tapatalk.

This sounds like a 'phishing' email to me, and I personally would NOT open it. As a matter of fact I'd delete it, and then delete it from the "deleted folder" as well, and then I'd run a scan.

Yeah, I'm just a tad bit paranoid when it comes to those kind of issues.

Yes, but NOBODY has this email address and it's not published anywhere for anybody to use it for phishing. Also, how would any phisher associate it with a forum of which I'm actually a member? You'd expect them to refer to facebook or something that they'd expect everybody to be "on".

I will bring it to Admin's attention in order to verify that nothing and nobody can access member's email addresses. :)
