My blue front pair came to me on a seed only diet. I have successfully gotten them onto Roudybush pellets, but they have developed stinky poop. I am having to change their liner every 2 days or it stinks up the bird room, where the others I change 2 times weekly. Should I be concerned or could this be from the diet change ? They appear healthy and havent lost any weight. My Avian vet had surgery and is out of commission at the moment and I really dread having to trust another vet if it is unnecessary.

When I first got my blue front and changed his food, his poop seemed stinky too, so as long as it looks healthy, I wouldn't worry about it immediately, give it a few days and see if it gets any better.

It's been stinky for over a week, but appears normal. They didnt have stinky poop while on seeds, as I waited a week to let them settle before I changed their diet. I may try a little aloe detox in their water and see if that helps.

Wonder if milk thistle might help? Do believe it is found in an aloe detox, but not sure if it's strong enough.

It's possible that a diet change, if done too quickly, may be upsetting their systems. I would advice gram stains if you can get them done, though.

Sounds like the food switch changed the microflora of their gut. I agree that you should get it tested to assess the bacteria strains/levels if possible.

You can try a bit of yogurt, my Amazon loves to have a few bites while I'm eating, and it can help add some good bacteria back in. Can also try a supplement like Prime or Missing Link's avian formula. I use Prime and it does contain active bacteria, though I only use it intermittently.
