Today I noticed his poop is completely liquid and has no solid matter in it. He's already done several since I got home from work. He is otherwise acting happy and healthy. Yesterday I attemped a change in diet from seed to pellet could this be the cause???
He is booked into the vet tomorrow as it's night time here and they are closed.
I am sick with worry right now.

When I came home from work today all the tiels were on the bottom of the cage scavenging for food like they were starving.

It could be that he has had NO food because he refused to eat the pellets. Based on what you said about all the other tiels, I am thinking this may be the case. If so, he would not have had much to create poop with (excuse the visual!).

Have you tried offering him some of his normal feed to see if he will eat? I would keep a close eye on him until you can get him to the vet as he may dehydrate very quickly. Try and offer him some watery foods like grapes to keep his hydration levels up?

Good luck!

He seems so content beak grinding on me and sitting with one leg tucked in

Try to change the the feed more slowly. Suddenly withdrawing the usual diet to change to a new diet will cause diarrhea, starvation and death. Ask your vet on what he/she recommends for improving the diet.

I hope he does well.

Are things looking back to normal? Or firming up at least?

We have had the same experience when Loki first came home. He tried to give himself a bath in his bowl and about drowned himself, he swallowed alot of water and the over deluge of water resulted in same type of poops. But when we saw it we rushed him to the vet. Looking back it was funny, I was on the phone trying to confirm she would wait for us and hopping around trying to get my boots on while Victoria got him into a carrier and out the door we ran...

For changing feed... mix the two together, start with 50/50 and then every day or so cut back the seeds in the mix. But, I would not go totally seedless... here is a great mix that we buy for the cockatiels and then we give them pellets mixed in as well.

You can feed this to many of the smaller birds like budgies and lovebirds too. The tiels love this stuff, literally they leave dust everyday.

I live in Australia so will need to investigate whether I can get that pellet mix here :)

So it's morning here (7am) and I'm relieved to say that Rocky's poop has returned to normal!! phew...what a scare that was!
Thanks for helping me everyone :)

Yay!! So happy to hear that :)

I always find it a bit funny that us parronts can be so thrilled over poop!! :D. I am the same

Glad Rocky is back to normal :)

I'm glad Rocky is ok! But like it was mentioned it might be due to not food being available to cause that. To me it is better to have seeds and pellets for cockatiels instead of pellets alone.

Yeah agreed. I was just trying to follow the directions on the pellet packet. Should have asked you guys instead!!
It said on the packet to do it cold turkey and if they haven't eaten by night time to put the seeds back in and try again with pellets the next day. It also said the pellets alone are a complete diet and to avoid the use of supplements etc....Oh well, I know better now.
They are called Passwell Crumbles.

Direct Change to Crumbles: Applies to cockatiels, companion parrots, quail and doves. Remove all seed and treats and provide only Crumbles. If the birds do not eat during the day then replace the seed before nightfall
and try again the next day. If this is not successful then try introducing Crumbles.
Introducing Crumbles: For budgies and smaller birds start with a 50:50 mix of Crumbles and seed. Over the next few days, slowly increase the proportion of Crumbles. Remove all the seed once birds begin to eat the Crumbles.

So according to the crumbles box they don't need to have seed on this diet (after they start eating the crumbles) - but I disagree.

I don't agree with cold turkey methods! I think any changes should be done slowly so that's a strike out for me on that pellet packet.

yeah agreed! And Rocky could have been seriously hurt if he got dehydrated :(

She shouldn't get dehydrated if water was given. I'm sorry you had to go through that ordeal with that nonsense off that packet.

That'll go away after tomorrow if you give her plenty of food to eat.
