Hello! Once in a while Boomer might have an accident on the carpet, or he might fling a raspberry a little too far and it will land on the carpet.

What do you guys use for a carpet stain remover that is safe and effective? I've bought several but they all have this strong scent that even makes me dizzy. Any safe ones out there or maybe something even natural that you guys could recommend I use?

my mom always used vinegar and water mixture not sure what the mixture is though

Oxi clean doesn't have a smell does it. Ha it's been so long I forget. I'm getting my carpet cleaned I hope this week :)

There is a company called Norwex that is known for their microfiber cloths. They have silver embedded in them that's a natural antibacterial (kills germs with no chemicals or other elements needed) I doubted the ability of their cloths till I tried it myself. There was a 3-4 day old barbecue stain I found on the carpet, and all I did was wet the Norwex microcloth with water and it go the whole stain out. Yes, it does take some elbow-grease...but it worked and no worries about chemicals or fumes. And I didn't have to make some kind of home concoction =) The clothes aren't super cheap, but they get out anything in your carpet (including days old, dried bird poop). And now you save money from buying cleaning agents or making your own cleaning solutions.

I honestly find the best method for removing stains immediately after they happen is to pour some water over the stain, cover it with a folded up towel, and stomp around on it... Really!

For set in stains, I find using enzyme based cleaners can work quite well (Poop Off is an enzyme cleaner, for one). Wet the stain, spray with cleaner, scrub with a nail brush, and use the towel method above. Yeah you look a bit crazy... but everyone thinks us bird people are crazy anyways ;)

Thanks for all the tips! I'm bookmarking this thread so I can try each one. :D

I'm really intrigued by Roxy's suggestion. I read reviews online and it seems pretty legit. They sell a sample pack for cheap on amazon. But how do you clean the cloth after you use it? Just rinse with water or ok to put in the washing machine?

dish soap and water wil work for poop.
Club soda works for wine stains, might work for fruit stains too.

Ripping out the carpet and replacing it with Pergo floors, viola! Cleaning is a breeze by just wiping!!! :D

I'm with you! That is our next project... I am getting my carpets cleaned this week, but as soon as my husband is completey healed from his surgery its gettin ripped out and replaced with wood. Or sooner if he decides to hire someone to put the floor in makes no difference to me. I am so tired of this carpet. Ugh!

I'm with Mikey on this one, but unfortunately our carpet will have to wait a few more years before it gets replaced with Pergo since it's fairly new.

I just happened to steam clean my carpet downstairs yesterday. I use "Simple Green". I just LOVE that stuff. No strong odor, and boy does it get some stains out! I only used a small amount mixed with super hot water in my steam cleaner, and it's looking like new. :)
