Bianca passed away 1 month ago. Approximately 1 year ago, she developed a prolapsed vent. At first we tried some different therapies and hormone treatments with our avian vet. None of them worked and prolapse got worse. Next we went with surgery to suture up the vent. First time it lasted 9 days before reopened. Next time it lasted 2 days, then 1 day and final time just an hour.
She was never in any pain and her life seemed normal. Then one morning I came to her room and she was on the bottom of the cage dead. There was blood all around her. It appears that an artery connected to the prolapse burst. I believe she passed very quickly. I have been heartbroken. I know I shouldn't feel guilty but I do. She was a rescue I did 3 years ago and we got along so well. She was only 13 years old. I miss you Biance
