Do I hear wedding bells?

Okay, I give up. These are some of my very most specialest favoritest favorite romance photos of all time. Look at them. She's besotted and precious, but HE... HE is so puffed up with pride... look at him... he's so big-headed, he's like "YEP, all mine, boys, ALLLLL MINE!!!!!" Yeah, great photos. I give up. I'm done. I give up. Cutest romance EVER.

Oh my dearest Penny
I thank you , many
times, that's right
I thank you day and night,
You make me laugh
Everytime you take a bath
You talk , beep, and bark
I think you quite a lark!
Once you were neglected
but in my home you're protected!
I love you for so many reasons
Together I hope we have many seasons!

Now THAT is the song of a worthy rooster... in command of his domain, noble protector of his queen, and proclaimer of epic, lyrical pride in his reign!
He's the ROOSTERest!
Long live the mighty King 'Keet! All hail!

Uh Gail ? Penny is a hen!!! Lol if anything it's Girl power! I'm so very glad I found her she is the quirkiest , funniest parrot I've ever known!

Oh, yeah, I know... Penny is the rescued girl-quaker, and I thought that randy rooster Cloudy was her new dude.
I must need a score-card to keep up with all this parrot love!
I was regaling Cloudy...

AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH... I thought that was CLOUDY's rhyme!
To Penny!

lololololololol

LOL I think she is cheering young Cloudy there ;)

Mrs. Penny has been making leaps and bounds in her confidence. I mentioned once before that she climbed down her cage and walked across the floor, a big suprise for me and the dogs! Well yesterday she did it again, I only noticed because my lap dog was looking at the floor and barking. I looked down to see Penny looking up at me! While it is great she feels bold, it's not great with the dogs freaking out at the green monster on the floor!! After spending a couple of hours with me on my shoulder I put her back on her play top. After a half hour I glanced at her and when we made eye contact she launched into the air and flew towards me!!! This is only her second flight by choice!!! She can't change direction or altitude yet...but I have hope that her bond with me is strong enough to make her want to learn to fly! Today after being gone all morning, when I got home and let everyone out, she flew to me again!!! Happy dance! I don't know if watching all the other birds fly has helped her? I hadn't been working with her, but I will start!!!

Well the world has changed!!! She is now trying to fly to me constantly, won't stay put. She doesn't go in anything other than one direction and slowly goes to floor. She is also climbing down the cage to walk across the floor , constantly. Now that Neptune sees her on the floor , he flys to the floor and walks around too.

This is terrible, because I have four dogs. And while they grew up with parrots, they never had Parrots on the floor before!!! The dogs are not taking it well. I have one dog that has started stalking!!!!

I don't want to curb Penny's new confidence , it the actual moving around. As she had been such a lump, or perch potato.....

So it's a lot less relaxing around here. And I will work with the dogs first. Because I want encourage Penny..

Yup, scary indeed, but also so very very great: she is trying (and finding) all kind of new ways to get around.
I hope she will choose to leave the floor to the dogs eventually (walking takes soooo much time anyway...)

It is!!! She is also trying new foods! Climbing down my shoulder to my side table and stealing drinks, tossing stuff off the table. It's like she woke up as a new bird three days ago!!! And the life in her eyes is amazing! She is not "shut down" anymore!! I so wish more birds could be rescued... Like you with Sunny :) and the Grey's!

Edit: sadly the romance with the budgie Cloudy seems off. Neptune is now wooing her, and chaces the budgies away. Maybe Penny feels like hot stuff now, and has to strut

Penny is now strong enough to fly all the way too me!! Yippie! If she can just learn to change direction when she flies, she will be all set!! She flies every day now!!!! But in one direction...

Yep it sure can be scary when they know how to take off but landing and changing direction is somewhat of a mystery! Lilly flies pretty well considering she has had the first 4 primary feathers clipped, she can get most anywhere in two or three hops and is also learning how to change direction. It’ll be interesting once she grows those feathers back, she’ll be like a little green tracer bullet!
