Quick help (GRAPHIC images enclosed)

Stephen, that looks like a decaying (????) or munched on rodent (rat) to me. Can you imagine the smell? :vomit-smi

It must be enough to make you gag! If that is a rat, it's a big one. I'm still wrapping my head around this. Unbelievable.

I have no clue what it was. I was gagging the entire time. I hope to have a long conversation with ASCPA, Animal Control, and the USDA tomorrow. My anxiety got the best of me for most of the day, I was too nervous to go near my flock. I can't tell you how many times I have washed my hands from the fingers tips to past the elbows. I ended up having to leave and take a walk to calm down a bit.

Are those blue throated Macaws? I am just sick to my stomach . . . those poor babies. Please keep us updated on what Animal Control says. I am sorry you had to witness this, hopefully they will be saved :(

OMG that is absolutely disgusting. And heartbreaking. This person calls himself a breeder? He really should know better. I hope the ASPCA removes all of his birds and perhaps lays some criminal charges. In fact it looks like a candidate for an episode of 'Animal Cops' (Which I can't and don't watch). Those cages don't look like they EVER get cleaned. I feel guilty if I'm even a day late for the weekly steam clean. And dead birds? He was just gonna leave them there in the cage? And that dead... thing?....rat? I feel dirty looking at it! šŸ˜¢šŸ˜

Ohh, ughh! My gosh that is shocking! It's beyond deplorable. I decided to be brave and look while I was eating dinner. Mistake, I couldn't even enjoy the rest of it! That dead "thing" I can't get over it ! I'm just speechless not only thinking how someone could do that, but also letting someone come over to see it without reservation! That is completely beyond me. Good luck getting somewhere with this Stephen.

Stephen, seriously, if there's anything I can do to help or if you need someone to talk to, please PM me, I'm available all the time.

Wow, that is just beyond revolting and pitiful. I hope those birds get fast relief.

I will never understand how anyone can do that to any living being. It is sickening. I'm so sorry you had to go through that, Stephen. Hopefully the ASPCA will do something about them!!! Just horrible.

Yes I was just thinking about this. Perhaps mental illness or something is a factor, like a hoarding type situation. Or drug abuse. Not trying to rationalize it, in any case the birds need to be removed, the poor babies, but perhaps the person needs help too? Or they could just be plain old beyond help scum.

Those photos were truly heartbreaking. People who treat birds/animals in this way should be ..........!
Good luck with getting authorities involved and hope something can be done for those innocent birds. We have a Veterinary disinfectant (for external use) called F10 here and spray ourselves, cage, carrier etc and my bird before and after leaving home. Do you have it?

Just ordered F10 now. I barely slept. Idk why I can't "let go" or "get past" things like this. Some how one way Barbara Heidenreich and I have a mutual friend, she reached out to her. I woke up with a message from Barbara on Facebook. She offered her help as well. Things are looking up and we are going to do our best.

Stephen, thank you for working so hard to get these birds out of deplorable conditions. Just seeing the photos is staggering, I can't imagine being there in person. I hope you can make a real difference for the victims, sounds like you've enlisted excellent help.

I'm glad you are doing everything in your power to keep your own birds safe. I don't think it's possible to be too cautious under the circumstances.

So this is completely safe to spray around the birds? like spraying the cage while they are in it?

UPDATE****

Animal Control and The Sheriff's Office will be visiting his home today.

I've been waiting for this good news all day! I so hope they do something. You did a great thing reporting this guy. It would be too easy for some people to walk away.

I will keep you all updated. Hopefully these birds are rescued. Sadly, my heart wants every bird there. The blue throats were so wild. Seriously, they would lunge at the cage HARD every time we walked by. I thought they were going to hurt themselves. He had a cockatoo living in filth. I wanted to take her home with me. Goodness. I am still in shock a bit.
