Scott I just finished allee's story thank you for bringing it up and allee for posting it.

I just got a call back from the breeder she didn't get my message. We talked a bit and I let her know I'm waiting for the DNA results first before I meet. And she understood and respected that choice. Good breeder.

I know I will be insane when I meat a new little hand raised parrot for the first time and make a rash decision.... so I need to do all my thinking ahead of time.
Yep
Very wise
But are there risks if this lovely being sold before yiu meet?

I even brought that up, but it can wait until a new clutch, she estimated 4 months....

Phenomenal, well written story of a quaker named Harry! Actually published as book by our dearest Allee! http://www.parrotforums.com/incredi...s-bird-lovers/65239-when-harry-met-allee.html

OMG!!!
Its so much like Penny!! Penny first words to me FU, Penny shot poops at me! PENNY stopped bites and started headbutt smack to my face. Pennybplucks, and at first mutilation to her feet.. We had food battles, and also at first guarding her food and never leaving the bowl....wow so much the same, tho Penny wasn't as mean , actually very sweet.

Amazing similarities, and differences. Yep, Harry is quite the character and quite mean and vindictive by human standards!

So should I go ahead and amazon a new cage or would it be safe to put a GCC with a quaker? The quaker will be a baby a male. I'm sure clark would not hurt, maybe snap a bit, but from what I've seen they (quakers) get a few inches bigger later on....

Clark never hurt zod but they would have a bit of a tiff sometimes when Zod got older. Jealousy.

I would definitely be getting another cage for several reasons. Quarantine. You'll need a safe place for the new little one while quarantining regardless of whether they're ultimately housed together. There are no guarantees that they'll get along, so better to be prepared in the event that they don't. Quakers do have a reputation for being cage aggressive, so that could be an issue with another bird, or with you as well. Lots of sweet, loving, wonderful quakers out there who act like an entirely different bird when defending their home.

My two cents anyway.

Makes sense, if I don't get this one I might get another bird on down the line..... If not for nothing I'll go bigger and get clark the upgrade.

seperate cages for sure!!@@
Putting them together like that can make fir lasting hate of each other.

Clark would also feel invaded.

Tadah and Neptune were very bonded, but could not share a cage. He would drive her to the bottom. They could share for an hour ior two , like if I rolled the cages outside for fresh air .

How you introduce them is very important.
Time seeing each other across the room for a week or more. Then meeting in a neutral area, with feed spread out, and place several feet apart. The first time I don't let them go near each other, but try to have them eat their yummy foods, while a couple if feet apart.

You fo not want to let any squabble happen the first few times they meet. You want lots of postive association with each other.

Copy that Laurasea,

I just bought a cage should be here Saturday. Ample space. 25, 21, 29.5 Bigger than Clarks cage L & W, and about the same H. Good deal on it and can return before feb 1st.

I figure I'll call the buyer tomorrow let her know I'm still interested and to see if she has the DNA back yet.

Contacted breeder again today, bird is still unsold. I'm probably going to meet up and be interviewed by the parrot saturday, I'll have the cage and new toys and everything by then. She hasn't got the DNA results back because her mail wasn't picked up .

She did say we could buy the bird and she would buy back at full cost if not a good fit, but it would take a while to know that.

millions of pictures please!
And do postive association with Clark.
If you walk her over go peek st the new one feed her treats and tell her how great she us, abd vice versa.
Dont let Clark catch you cooing go the new one, be sneaky .... abd really brag on Clark.

I only messed up introductions once, with sll my zillion burds. Tadsh was so happy to meet Penny, but Penny was afraid, and when I wasn't looking a big fights happened....led to a lot a hate for I'm thinking a year......they are fine now, don't hang out together, but don't fight either. I can have both on me without a fight.

Cage arrived a day early, I got it today, but I was tired after work as we restructured the entire production floor moving desks and tables and shelving etc.

Good thing is I now own like 1/3 of the room I don't think they saw that coming but when I pointed it out the vice president laughed.

Clark and I will assemble the cage tomorrow, all the destruction toys that clark just ignores I'll put in that cage. Along with the basket ball hoops bird punching bags etc. toys. Then later on tomorrow I'll go get interviewed for the position of parrot owner by a Quaker FID.

Ironically I sent my first job offer letter to a millennial kid today, I've interviewed people as a peer before, but this is the first hire with my new company as a supervisor.

If you live near Minneapolis, MN I need bodies we are hiring!

I also sent the breeder the link to this thread to look over. She was very impressed with my diligence and our community and probably might join. I was like yep I have a village.... (if you don't get the reference google "it takes a village")

So we will see tomorrow.... If not maybe in a few months or so I dunno.
