We did take Chaz back to the vet today and the news is not good.
His heart murmur is a 6/6 on the severity scale and both valves are affected.
She said if he makes it a year, it will be a gift, but she said 60 - 90 days is more likely.
We need your prayers more than ever before.

I'm so sorry to hear that Terry. My thoughts are with you guys. Make the most of whatever time you have and try not to think about it. You have us all rooting for him to make a full recovery!

:( I'm so sorry, Terry. :(

Spend all the time in the world with Chaz. Hug him, kiss him, carry him around, and be there for him. He KNOWS how much you love him, and how much he means to both you and Reg.

These news are really hard to stomach. HUGS to all of you!

Terry, I am so sorry... Let's hope Chaz is as much as a fighter as we all hope he is and totally defies the odds...

Terry my heart and prayers go out to you. I will continue to pray for you and Chaz. I am at a loss for words............sorry.

Oh, no. I'm so sorry, Terry. Cherish every single moment that you have together, and know that you've done everything humanly possible that you can do to help him.

I will continue to pray for him.

Terry, I hope there will be good news for your little guy Chaz. Vets (and doctors) prognosis aren't always accurate. Miracles can and do happen Remember. Hang in there. It's so painful and stressful I know. The pic of Chaz with Memphis is adorable!

Terry,

What has today brought for Chaz? How is he breathing?

Chaz is having a good day today - no trouble breathing and he even wanted to go outside.
He looks like the same Chazzie today that he has always been, and it makes it hard to believe he is still sick. I pray all his days are like today:)
Thank you for asking, Jen:)

I am so happy to hear he is having a good day!!! I hope all the days are good for him, and there are many many many more days!!

We are thinking about you.

Hugs

Good for him and good for you! Chihuahuas with cardiac disease can live a long time if properly managed. The little buggers can be difficult to give oral meds and you might ask your vet to teach you how to give an injections if the need should arise.

There are several medications that can help your pup. Lasix is the first in the line for cardiac disease and does a good job. Don't be afraid to ask your vet questions, and it never hurts to get a second opinion.

Glad he is doing better. You will have good and bad days. And remember he doesn't realize he has a serious condition, but he does sense your emotional state. Be brave and he will, too.

Chaz is a warrior, Terry! Don't you count him out just yet!

sorry I haven't been on here Terry, I've been a bit busy with my babies.

I just read about his outcome. gosh the little guy is a trooper isn't he?

60-90 days could turn into years Terry, who knows how long he has.

I will continue to keep him in my prayers...is there nothing else they can do for him?

You know, I have decided to hope and believe in miracles. I have been so depressed it is hard to even get out of bed, but by feeling hopeless I am missing the time i have with him right now.
Beth, the vet feels that we can only take care of the quality of his life now, and really sees no options. But she is putting him on a beta blocker next Tuesday, and I am adding some natural things to his diet thanks to the link Wendy provided.
He can defy the odds and I am going to give him every chance to do that. And in the n
meantime, I am going to enjoy every second I have him:)
