I downloaded a large number of mp3 of talking budgie from Youtube and created a playlist of them with my old phone, and leave the sound playing while the sun is out. Basically, my budgie hasn't picked up so much as a bird call, but he does go ballistic and vocally respond with the same pitch calls.
Will he eventually pick up words that he hears from my phone? Or is talking something that I have to teach him while bonded and from my mouth?
