lovebird
hello, my bird pebbles used to be this crazy squaking lovebird, but now when the colder temperatures came around, she became very calm. She sits on her bird heater with her foot up, or anywhere she sleeps in her cage. when i take her ut, she is very queit and gentle, and loves to be petted. Do you think there is something wrong with her? or is she just having winter vibes? she has been doing this for like4 weeks, and she has no signs of illness, she looks normal otherwise. She still copies sneezes for 3 hours straight while she sleeps LOL. so i hope she is fine....

I think the Rickeybird does the same, but i THINK it's related to hormones/breeding season...
After a summer of hypersexuality and a good molt, he is a bit more calm, maybe , in the winter months.

No hibernation.
A heavy molt can have a similar effect.

Young birds are more active and playful.
When they get older they usually slow down.

Hormones… I guess it could be.

yes, i thought it was hormones, and it hits pebbles hard..... like really hard to the point she laid 13 eggs without a male in sight over the course of 2-3 yrs, her first egg she laid was on Christmas day right after her first birthday....she was very stubborn about it.

Bless your heart... dealing with EGGS. Makes me grateful that the Rb is a nasty-tempered old rooster. Do you worry about egg-binding or calcium depletion?
Here's a link I ran across a while back...
