Parrot with the longest life expectancy

with the Hycanith and U2 hypothesis I base it off meeting a U2 who was wild caught almost 70 years ago with no idea of his age at the time but definitely being an adult.

Hycanith's I've never met one but have seen things of people having had one of these through 2 generations of family.

It would be interesting to see what the absolute maximum age a well cared for bird can get to but in our lifetimes of course for the long lived species most of us wont be around to see the results

FWIW Anecdotally it is going to be a long time before decent stats can be compiled,

I mean, do the math y'all..

For Example, My BFA came in thru the Port of San Diego 1974. where and when he was born... For all I know he might have been 10 years old when he crossed the border? Good luck with those records.

30, 40, 50 years old for all the large to mid size parrots is a given.. To try and narrow which one is going to have the most longevity. It might be dependent on which species is most likely to get the best care. Which environment they lived in. For all I know acclimating my bird to cold weather might lengthen his life. After all he gets a nice goose down in the cooler temps. Could be a bad thing. Good luck with analytical data on that!

Frankly with informative sites like this. I believe the Parrot species will and can live longer than Zoo records. Sort of like how humans life expectancy works.

I tell people my GWM will live to 40 years, that 50, 60 years, is not unusual.

Dont spend my 2 cents!!

and hey, who knows maybe parrots could be like lobsters in that they are effectively immortal and only die due to outside forces
