well we did it...we got our bg macaw:blue1:...she is super sweet...but she makes me a little nervous...the first time i held her she bit me and broke the skin...nothing major,,, not a bad as I thought it would be...she has also let us know how loud she can be...ears are still ringing lol I will post some pictures asap...one day at a time...wish me luck.

her name is TeeToo...but i really want to change it...any ideas on names...

Congratulations! Not on the bite ;)... on your acquisition of TeeToo :D.

Names are such a personal thing I wouldn't even know what to suggest

I don't like changing a birds name , it seems so wrong to me since they have names in the wild. A lot of people do it though.

This is what I would do.
Slowly start giving her a nick name and eventually just call her that. Teeto wouldn't be bad, it would change it from T-2 into T-toe which I think sounds pretty and it won't be so drastic of a change. There's also Tiko and Tiku

YAY! Congrats on TeeToo. :) You must be SO excited!

I'm sure you'll be best friends in no time. Do you have any pictures for us?

I can see why you would want to change her name, lol.

Best of luck with your new B & G. :D

she does this thing where she bobs from side to side...I can't tell if she is agitated or dancing...also how long should I leave her alone to get settled in we just brought her home last night...when I went to get her off her perch to put her to bed she kept lunging at me I had to go put on a hoodie sweatshirt and tuck my hands in...she still lunged but it was more like she kind of grabbed at the fabric like plucking guitar strings...when I went to put her in her cage she climbed up on top of it and wouldn't come down...i left her alone for a while to see if she would come down on her own ...when she didn't I had to get a stick and have her step up ...she seemed very scared of the stick and kept attacking it...I finally got her to step up and then was able to put her in the cage...i'm not sure if i should just bite the bullet and go pick her up or just let her come to me...she let her previous owner do anything he wanted to her...even mess with her wings...and he was very beak oriented with her as well...kinda nervous please help

She is BEAUTIFUL!

Give her time. You just brought her home yesterday, and she is nervous and scared and VERY watchful of her new environment. It will take a while for the 2 of you to really get to know each other. :)

Offer her some treats, perhaps you can win her over with her favorite foods. Or try some foot toys, when she is occupied with a toy, she may not "look" for your skin.

But the most important thing is patience. :)

the only thing she has taken from me and eaten is a piece of a pizza crust...i know it's not healthy...so i only gave her a small piece
she doesn't seem to like nuts i have given her almonds and she just drops them...also she will only eat her veggies when i'm not watching
i'm trying to get a video of her behavior as well...
also I have been standing in the hallway with Parker and playing and talking to him so that she might see that i can be trusted... not sure if it works that way...also they can see each other down the hall. Parker is in the kitchen and T is in the back bedroom...after quarantine they will both be in the kitchen
she also doesn't seem to be very good with her feet as far as holding things...her previous owner said she never was good at holding nuts and things...but she seems to like hanging upside down from her cage...
She also has some thining spots on her legs and belly...they said she had just started plucking a little and he thought it was because their work schedule had changed and they couldn't spend as much time with her...
she came from a gay couple so she is use to men...I think that might be why she is scared of me...
sorry for rambling i'm new to rescue and want to give her the best home I can...Parker was a baby so he has been easy...not to mention he is much smaller than she is...lol
