I am happy to announce that Steven returned home from Cape Town late last night, after 10.30pm. We chatted briefly, he was exhausted.
So nice to have my "baby" back.

Mishka was already asleep when he arrived.
When Mishka awoke Steven was still sleeping.

All morning I was talking to Mishka telling him Steven is home. When he was finishing being showered, he said STEVIE BOY IS HOME, as I picked him up, HE BIT ME OMG  he held on, biting deeply into my hand. I eventually managed to release him. There is a small hole (the wound) it would not stop bleeding, my hand is bruised and swollen. ( does not show up in the pic unfortunately)
What is worse it is my injured hand, with the nerve injury, so I feel it even more. Almost the same spot as to when he injured my hand before. I got the stick to pick him up, he willingly step onto it.

Straight afterwards, while being blow dried, Mishka was co-operating and being so loving.
I decided not to use the stick, and picked him up, with my bleeding hand, I said give me a kiss (I was petrified he would bit me again) he turned to kiss me, kissed me and said sorrrrrry I luf love you mommy..

Oh my heart started bleeding, with such love and emotion. :D

I wonder if he feels threatened because Steven is back?

Yep, it sounds as though Mishka is jealous. I would be careful handling Him when he is like this especially is Steven is around. I would bet that Steven will be able to handle Mishka without being bitten where you might be since you are his chosen one.

OUCH, I know how that feels from experience. Sorry you got bit, but don't let your guard down for a minute no matter how cute he seems afterwards. He might be hormonal as well.

Mishka had not even seen Steven this morning when he bit me.
Since seeing each other, Mishka is being himself, just as before.
Steven will sit talking to Mishka for hours on end, BUT he does not handle Mishka, unless it's an emergency or he really has to.

I am waiting for the hormones to kick in LoL (when and how I do not know)
Believe me I am always on "alert mode" ... this bit was really eina.

Mishka definitely knows that Steven is back, not once today has he said Stevie boy has gone to Cape Town... ;)

So sorry antoinette! OUCH! I know how it hurts! Yes I would also be cautious for a bit. Sophie is back to her self.....for now......but she would also trick me so she could bite me! Like putting her head down for scritches, then biting me once my hand was close! I used the stick for step ups for a while. Sure I was GLAD when I got my baby back!!!!

Ouch!! That looks like a nasty bite:(

It definately sounds like he was jealous... I think maybe, as he has had your full attention for 2 Weeks while Steven was away, he now feels threatened by him being back!

I hope it heals soon though:)

I can't understand why, he had not even seen Steven yet, perhaps we underestimate how they perceive things.

Steven went to Uni, came home and gave Mishka a small slice of his sandwich, Mishka was so chuffed, now I know everything is back to normal, BUT I will not let my guard down.

Glad you got your baby back X X :D

I am quite prepared for Mishka's birdie tricks !!!!!

Whenever picking him up, I now ask for a kiss, in case he has any "surprises" for me :D

It just goes to show that we all need to be a bit wary of our Birds... This could happen to any one of us at anytime!

Very true, not a matter of "if" but "when" it's going to happen...and it IS going to happen (unfortunately) I'm also pretty sure Mishka didn't need to "see" Stephen to know he was in the house. I'm sure they pick up & smell & acute sounds way more than you might think.

Here's a good example, if our 10 yr. old goes into the kitchen (birds are all right there next to it, no walls) in the AM while still covered, they won't make a sound. However, if I go in to turn on the coffee they immediately know it's me and will start fidgeting/making noise.

Finally, yes, you just have to be on your guard about being bit, most of the bites I get are very mild, more of a "love bite" than anything else, but unless you're watching their eyes and body language you just never know. (that and they sometimes forget how strong they are)

I agree 100% he definitely did pick up & smell & acute sounds.....

Mishka has never bitten me before....... Funny enough, both of these incidences took place in the bathroom...
He absolutely loves his showers, when I turn the taps on, he says come on mommy quickly quickly come.... :D

I wonder if the bathroom has something to add to his aggressive behaviour as well...... something to think about.

You are so correct...... I was never ever weary of Mishka, him being the loving, kiss kiss bird that he is.........

Each time now when taking him out the shower, I will use the stick, the reason being the bath is low, and I would not have time to "read" what is about to happen.
When picking him up normally I always say give me a kiss please.....
:D

Ouch! I hope it heals soon.

These are the things that pet stores would NEVER tell you...

Was there any warning before the bite??

Nope not single warning, no strange body language etc...
When I turn the tap off, he usually dances, which he did, then when picking him up he bit.

I feel like a helpless wreck, can hardly move my hand, also the cold weather does not help, but sure it will heal soon.

:grey:

Sorry to hear that happened. I am sure he didn't mean to hurt you that way though. I hope it heals soon!

My son got a little to close to Kawie and got a 2 cm scratch on his face for it. And my wife has had a small site to her cheek when giving him a kiss. Admittedly though, that was in the first 2 months he came to live with us and before we learned his "I have had enough attention" signs. They are very strong. I have gotten some love bites, but nothing that ever broke the skin.

Glad to hear your son's home safe and sound. Sorry to hear about the bite, I hope your hand heals quickly! Love and hugs!

So this is what I got to look forward to? Lol seriously that look pretty nasty. I'm no expert but sounds like jealousy to me too. Hey, at least he apologized.

I hope your hand feels better! Ya, Mishka was probobaly jealous.
Just today I gave my sennie a slice of apple and then I had to go out of the room to the kitchen to get a napkin. When I came back Bella and Zora were all over me nipping and demanding for apple. Haha.
Again, sorry about your hand. Heal quickly!

If I add up all the pro's and con's... the pro's outweigh the con's by tons and tons. :)

Awwww there is so much to look forward to, I could start telling you today, but it would takes days and days to say it all.

Here are just a few ........ :D

Been the best companion in times of need, honestly. Every night when training him, he is my Calmett, I forget about my problems, he is my calming tablet.
Each and everyday, we have conversations. Seeing how much he has grown, his beautiful intelligent personality, coming through in his speech. Mishka's loving little gestures, cleaning his beak on my hand, shaking my hand and telling ME what to do... I could go on and on forever.

He has given me hours and hours of fun. He adores performing in front of the camera, making him my free 24/7 entertainment channel. I spend hours editing his vid's, learning so much about him. Placing them on the forum, Youtube and facebook, giving others the pleasure of enjoying his beautiful talent and charming personality.

There are only two 'incidences' I would 'eliminate' the two bites he gave me when exiting the bath. :(
LoL and he did apologize as well as you mentioned.

Weird; normally you'd think he'd pin his eyes or his feathers would flatten. I can see that it would be jealousy, but still find it odd that there was no warning what-so-ever.

Goes to show you how smart Greys are! If he had showed warning signs the surprise of a bite would not have been there!! Always trying to outsmart us! LOL
