so its been a couple months now since we got echo ( we decided to change it last second lol) and well she is... JUST THE MUSHYEST BABY BIRB EVER!!! she reminds me of a little duck lol shes just so clumsy and she doesnt know where to put those big feet yet :09: , but she is getting better. as well as stepping up for me. She is starting to mutter words and finding her voice already and her voice is gonna be so cute i can tell already. (shes also gonna have a potty mouth... woops ha ha... :54: lol:D:)Still, the way i see it there are 3 things i need to work with her on still.

1. she is very mischievous however and loves to chew on cords and of course jewelry and refuses to let go! its like playing tug of war with a bulldog!!! she has so much fun, but it can be kinda annoying and even more dangerous! how would i go about in training her to let go of things on demand? ive never really had a problem with this before. my other too pretty much drop it when you take it from them, but echo? she'll take off and run lol :p
i try giving her rope or other toys for her to tug on which she loves lol i should post a video of her shaking her head like a dog its so cute!! she also loves to do this with wick balls too!! she eats everything a give to her pretty much except she does clearly prefer seeds than anything

2. although she like to play ruff sometimes too that needle tip is a killer!! i know she doesnt mean harm because when she pokes me i see her little face and it looks like "what did i do wrong ?:((" its so heartbreaking i feel like melting when i see that face T_T

and last 3. though shes adorable, she is very very shy around other ppl as well so ill have to work on that with her as well. maybe some love park strolls with her soon :green2:

also she is clipped, but i think her flight feathers are already starting to grow! i found one clipped feather on the floor of her stand and i checked her wing and, well i saw the tip of the feather already starting to grow! im so happy about this because now i wont have to worry about some of my birds being flighted and others also when she falls she really does just plop to the floor (i think they shoulve left her wings alittle longer at least since shes so heavy. I'll probably check again cause im just in doubt. maybe i mistaken it to be a covert feather? how fast to macw grow out there wings?

sorry this post is so long!!! :green2: :green: :blue1:

He sounds like quite the gentleman, congratulations!

You sound absolutely completely in love with your Echo-girl. :D No pictures????? :54:

You can try clicker training with her. Many members have had great success with this method. :)

As for how quickly the flight feathers will regrow, that depends on when she will go through a molt. She may not regrow them all at once, but I'd say she should have most of them within a year.

Awww, she sounds so cute. I love the baby stage. When we got our pionus many moons ago, he had been clipped short and I still haven't been able to teach him how to safely fly and land (he normally will startle and take off, then crash land) *sigh* When we had our red fronted macaw, he came flighted and we never clipped him, such a difference, but such a menace (he loved landing on the crystal chandelier where I couldn't reach him and snapping off the dangly crystals) I'd maybe try getting him used to sitting and staying on a play stand now too, teaching him to come to you and go back, but not yet able to travel anywhere in the house at will. Have fun!

Yep.

Nobles have sewing needles for a beak. You've got to check the tip, and periodically blunt the tip, because even gentle birds can accidentally go right through you if they get you with that tip.

Hahahaha yes teh tip can get quite 'pokey'. Our vet suggested that we keep it less sharp with this:

It is called a 'triangle file' and can usually be found near chainsaws at the hardware store.
