New Orange Feathers on Head???

I have an 8 year old cockatiel that started growing these tiny faint orange feathers right above his nostril on his head. It’s very faint orange in color.

Is this due to breeding hormones?

Not too sure about cockatiels but Amy (blue front) over the years has grown new blue feathers in places he never had. BB (cockatiel) hasn't shown any different then just a normal grey dude.

It’s not hormones.

It just looks like some of his cheek patch orange as migrated to above his nares.
Don’t think there is anything wrong, it just makes him special.

This discoloration can indicate a respiratory infection. And no you don't have to have discharge or sneezing to have an infection.

I had discoloration above the nostrils of 2 of my budgies with an infection of likely chlamydia.

No one ever wants to hear take them to the avain veterinarian. But I think it's worth a visit to be sure in this case. Because it us classic for a respiratory infection. Also common in cockatiel, especially on a seed diet. As low vitamin A levels lead to easy infections

I see pellets crumbs lol so that good. But stand by its a sign of infection. I see a green tinged urine poop too, also a sign of bacterial infection

Edit: Ok looked at your last posts, this burd has been sick and has had treatments.

Pretty safe to say he is still sick, and looks hunched...sorry hun

Yes I’m awaiting the culture results to start giving him Ciprofloxacin.

I’ve read that they sometimes get orange discoloration during breeding season? But he has never had this before.

I looked more closely and it’s not an orange stain. The feathers themselves are orange. Any ideas?

The feather discoloration is as I said above, can range from yellow, orange, brown. Its easier to see on Lighter color birds.
