Hi Everyone!

My name is Kendra and my family just brought home our new 4 month old baby Green Winged Macaw, Rosie this week. :red1: We had been visiting her daily at the birdstore since we purchased her in June and decided it was time for her to come home. My family is absolutely in love with our sweet, funny, full of personality girl.

I have been reading the boards here for about a month and I wanted to thank everyone for all of the great information that you supply. I have found it invaluable so far and I am sure I will continue to learn more every day from you all.

Hello Kendra and welcome to the forum :)

Congrats on your new to be addition :) Do you have any pics of Him/Her yet?

Thank you for the welcome!

Here is a pic of our sweet girl.

Hi,My name is Keisha
Im new on here :) I live in Idaho.Happily married with 2 Children 11 & 3 yes old
I have 2 furbabies ~ A Papillon named Gelli & a Boxer hybrid named Dutch :)
AND a Eclectus Parrot named Seaweed who has completely taken over my heart & house as the "head pet" LoL He is my 1st official Parrot ( Ive had budgies & a QP growing up) But I wanted a decent sized parrot. So I did over a year of research & decided to go with an Eclectus. It has been so rewarding having him. We take showers,he goes for car rides & to the stores with me.Needless to say that we are very bonded lol.I even have some of my friends wanting to have a parrot in their life after seeing the constant pics of him that Im always sharing. He will be a year old September 13. He preens himself & stretches himself while Im holding him.Which I find very rewarding-parrots just dont do that with every1 ya know ;D.So now that I have Seaweed in my life I have noticed that not only am I passionate about Dogs but Parrpts as well :D I think they are heaven sent. Looking 4ward to making friends here & sharing our wonderful stories that these feathered babies bring us on a daily :)

Good Morning! I'm a new Macaw owner. Her name is Roxanne. My mother has owned an African Grey for years so I have a bit of bird knowledge, but Rox and I are learning each other together. Good God! She's worse than an ADD toddler!....lol. I'm giving her some slack for now because she had it rough before us. My neighbors asked me to care for her during one of their hospital stays and I found her alone, cage covered by a thick black comforter, no light, just 1/4' of slime in her bowl to drink and strictly a seed diet. There was a 10 inch pile of feces under her that was touching her tail and she had not a single toy. She had picked her belly bald and SCREAMED all the time. Needless to say, my husband promptly disassembled her cage and she now lives with us. She's come a long way. No more screaming, her feathers are growing back nicely. I give her a fatty acid supplement because she was dry and itchy initially. My only issue now is, she really wants to get on my shoulder & is very cuddly, HOWEVER, she beaks SO HARD she leaves purple bruises! I try not to react, but is there ANYTHING I can do to curb this behavior?
