First off, sorry I haven't posted or commented on anything in a while... I have been working a lot with my new 10 month old Yellowsided GCC. So when I first got him from a lady I found on a website called hoobly.com (a craigslist sort of website) she said that they were hand tame, hand raised, and well taken careof. Well, he was none of those things accept handfed, and obviously poorly. When I first went to pick him up, it was him and his 5 siblings (six GCC's in all) in a 10 gallon aqarium with wood shavings on the bottom and two bowls one soiled with poo and bedding which was supposed to be there water dish, and the other with nothing but millet for them to eat. And keep in mind these birds were 8 months old at the time not nestlings (it would have been fine if they were still babies and she was using the aquarium for a little nest) all the birds feet were covered n droppings and had worn out soiled feathers. So I adopted one of the babies (believe me I wanted to rescue them all) and brought it home gave it a bath with some light handsoap (I know you shouldn't use soap but he was extremely dirty) and blow dried him which he seemed to love and finally put him in his new cage which is a 4ft long by 2 ft wide by 6ft tall, so huge compared to his previous aquarium. And today he is doing great I downloaded a set ocnure training books off the Internet and they worked miracles. When I first got him he would screech and bite and claw me till I would let him go, now he is such a good and pretty bird. He took to Zupreem fruit pellets right away I fact he will pretty much refuse anything for those pellets. His feathers are in perfect condition. And he loves to come out of his cage and play. So far I have tought him to hang upside down whith me holding his feet, to say his name (Baby) and finally to go to sleep in my hand upside down while I give him head and neck scratches. He is better than I ever expected him to turn out based on how he was when I first bought him. Here is a picture of him on a little motorized perch my son made for him that drives around the house with the bird on it !!
