Need Help! Urgent!

I'm in sort of a tight fix right now, so advice is needed. So I came home to find a little white dog (not sure what type, I know nothing about dogs.) infront of my garage. I put a bowl of water for him, and he drank almost everything. Anyways, I went inside to get the phone so I could call his owner (he had a phone # on the collar). The dog ran inside and made a beeline for my cat. They fought and chased eachother around the house, with me screaming and trying to stop them. After about 3 minutes, i got a hold of the little dog, and put her outside again. I couldn't find my cat, Cookie, anywhere. I found her in on top of the fridge, all scared and confused. Now, I can't go near her, she won't let me. She just hisses and pounces at me. This isn't normal, she's a real sweetie. I'm really scared she's hurt, and she won't even let me touch her. I coaxed her down eventually, now she's hiding under the couch. I'm not sure what to do, she's in a really bad mood. What do I do? What if she's hurt? I'm not sure what to do. I just want my little Cookie to feel better.
P.S. No blood, so I can almost rule out any bites or scratches. And the dog is with his owner now.

I wouldnt worry about it too much.. I think she just got a bit frightened with having a strange Dog on her territory!

She will come round again after a while... I think she is probably hiding at the moment thinking the Dog may come back

Poor Cookie, must be so scared and confused.
Hope there are no injuries.
Place a bowl of her food, near a chair, where you hold and cuddle Cookie.
Could take ages for her to come to you, just be patient, she has been extremely
traumatized.

I'm sure she is just so frightened. Some cats get really skittish after a traumatic event for a few days. Just try to keep the atmosphere as normal as possible. Probably just don't try to coax her out or she will think something is up again. Talk and act normal and maybe call her and tease her with food. Is she normally a very loving cat or sor of skittish ?

She's not hurt, but she's probably scared half to death. If she's never been around a dog before or isn't used to them this probably freaked her out in a big way. Give her some space and act like everything is normal. Don't comfort her! I know it seems completely counter intuitive, but if you go about things as normal she'll realize nothing is going on and relax faster than if you coddle her and act like you're trying to make everything ok. Doing that is sending her the signal that something truly awful did happen and she's lucky to have escaped. You want her to realize nothing bad happened and she's fine and can relax.

Also, when you see her, give her a few very slow blinks while looking at her. That's cat sign language for 'everything is chill and well, friend, why don't you come over here and get some love?'

Poor thing. That is just how some cats react to fear and trauma. Cookie was not in a stable and calm mind set to think clearly after being attacked. They go into "fight or flight" mode. The same thing happened to my poor cat (Who LOVED dogs. He plays with my dogs and loved ALL dogs until my boyfriend's parents poodle came over and attacked him). It has ruined his carefree personality and he hides whenever someone comes over now :-(

Well my "friend" had a cat and when my best friend brought over her dog they kinda got in a fix like yours (big time deja vu). WE removed the dog, but the cat just hid on top of her porch window, and then after a few hours of no coaxing and acting perfectly normal she came down for food, but then ran away to under the bed.

Then the next day my "friend" took her to the vet, and there was just a small scratch on her side. I have no idea what happened after that as we are not very good friends and I never went over to her house again, but I am sure everything went okay.

If the cat was already a bit skittish she may not be very comfortable, but if she was already miss personality, I think everything will be alright. It is going to take a few days for her to calm down...big trauma doesn't go away easily.

whenever our cat got really freaked at us - (now, this wast a frequent occurrence) - but he did get his tail stepped on a couple of times, and was harrassed by toddlers in our house, and one day they even decided that using him as a target for those little velcro balls was a fun idea. ><_><

but if he was really annoyed or scared he would go and hide under a bed in one of the bedrooms, just out of reach and try to attack anyone who came near him. The one time he was really upset i just put some dry food on the floor slightly out of reach in a trail out from under the bed and left him alone till he came around.

If you're sure there are no injuries id say just let her be until she calms down. and as you aren't the source of the trauma she will probably want a cuddle later and come sit on you for it when she is ready.

Sorry for never replying. I had a very bad morning. Anyways, Cookie is still very freaked out. She's mostly hiding in different spots, but some food was missing from her bowl, so I guess she came out at night and ate. She also came out once to do her bussiness. She's really worried that the dog is still there. I know she' is scared, but I thimk you guys know how I overreact with my pets and come over here to talk. I think it will take a day or two until she is 100% sure the dog isn't there.

Your cat will get over it promise! Several years ago we found a puppy that was almost as big as our cat and brought it inside as it was storming outside which is probably how it got lost as it was a pure bred Maltese. While trying to see if there was a collar our cat came into the room and the puppy wanted to play and the cat wanted to kill!

Cat took off........refused to come anywhere near the house while that puppy was anywhere near. I had to get a friend to take the puppy as Dash was so upset and it took a full week for him to stop sulking but he eventually got over it and went back to being the loving cat we knew!

Thanks, she got over it pretty quickly actually. Only problem is that the neighbor's dog digs HUGE holes and gets in our yard, and scratches at "Cookie's window." Which is where she stays most of the time. Now the neighbor looked into it and is fixing the problem. =) She refuses to go to her window after a couple hours, then she gets over it and sits back down. =)
