i adopted this amezon about 2 months ago.he is 35 years old. can i teach him new tricks and teach him to talk. he says few words thats all. he used to eat ok but he doesn't eat much at al. i have tried everything. i took wali to the bird specialist and he said he is healthy but underweight. i hand feed him, then he eats a little bit. this is my first pet and i love him so much pl help me to feed him and gain some wt

What was his previous diet and what are you feeding now?

Yes, you can teach him tricks and behaviors. Look into clicker training and positive reinforcement.

In regards to talking, he may or may not learn new words. It's really up to him. If he's a great talker, or interested, he'll learn more, but if he's not accustomed to learning a lot of new words, he may not pick up much, if anything.

Congrats on your new pet! That is great you rescued him. Do you know what type of amazon he is or anything about his history?

You may be struggling with getting him to eat enough for a while, I've had my galah for over a year now and she is still a little underweight.

You should check out the Birdtricks cookbook. It will give you lots of options to try different foods prepared different ways and all are healthy. Bird Tricks Natural Feeding Program
