This morning I had a nice surprise. I had fed the dogs and the birds, both birds locked in their cage because I was on my way to take my shower. I didn't close the bathroom door all the way because the dogs come in and leave, hang around waiting for me to finish. Well I finished, stepped out of the tub and the door flew wide open, Canelo runs in the bathroom scared, Chug the pug runs into his kennel, Lola under the bed all because Red Bird is strolling around the corner and walks straight into the bathroom to stop in front of me.

Alright Houdini, how did you get out of your cage THIS time? I had a discussion with her about bullying the dogs, why she must stay in her cage when it's locked for safety reasons, and be nice. She was on my shoulder, didn't hear a word said.

This is the first time she has come to find me in my bathroom. As for how she got out of her cage, she worked the latch on her food bowl door. She is one way too smart cookie!

So what are you going to do about the food doors?

Wow, that Venus! The female I had never would even try escaping. It wasn't within her personality. She had an old school cage without locks! Just a simple hook latch.

What will you do about the food doors? It would be a pain to lock them shut, since you need to access them regularly.

Hahaha! That Venus is too much! A regular escape artist! Bixby was the same way. Every once in a while, he'd just be sitting on top of his cage when I got home from work. Smh.

Very funny how the dogs flee her approach! Lol!

My Angel is more opportunist than Houdini. Leave a food/water door open for servicing, leave the room for an instant, and she will go straight to the floor and explore. Her cage is also old-school with conventional mechanisms.

But my cockatoos.... they are Houdinis AND opportunists!

My boy will go out any cage door left open just for seconds but usually stays on or near his cage. My girl will wander but only comes out if the big door is left open.

I've installed a large bull clip to clamp the door to cage from the outside. So far it's working. She was mad this evening as we were leaving the house because I locked her in her cage. She was shaking the doors, all her doors looking for a way out. I couldn't help but laugh, she was mad, mad, mad, lol.
