Hey guys - as a new parront, sometimes I'm not sure what's going on with Mr. Parrot. I noticed the other day it almost looks like Monty is losing a layer of beak. Here's a pic:

Is this normal wear?

Beaks are like fingernails. They're always growing, cracking, chipping.

No blood, nothing broken, don't stress.

Wait till he sticks his toe nail into his nostrial - that will freak you out the first time you see that trick. Same as the beak, both will grow back, but in this case, its skin.

Love the in your face Amazon pic!

Was looking at the first pic again - WOW, he as grown into one great looking Amazon!

Thanks!

He's a handsome boy, and we have finally lost the baby black on the beak, and are seeing more yellow come in. He's moulting right now, so he's been getting lots of baths, but the light sure makes him look less ratty than he actually looks right now.

When I'm sitting in my chair and it's Monty playtime, I do get a lot of "in your face" including eyebrow and eyelash preening, facial hair chewing, beak and foot insertion into mouth, nose honking, and other assorted abuses from my bird.

No, wait till he sticks his toe nail in YOUR nostril. That will make your eyes water.
