PART ONE
What a FANTASTIC DAY
We are still recovering
127fs1866968.gif

I don't even know where to begin
Let me start off by saying Linky and Craig are absolutely awesome.
Such a down to earth couple, I actually felt "normal" :p

Pictures will follow shortly (not taken with my camera)

Their home is totally devoted to the animals. I could not believe what an amazing set up they have. I have to explain the set up to you guys.
You walk into the lounge, greeted my Sterretjie in her beautiful decorated cage, lighting and all. Situated next to her cage is a tree, with branches, toys and everything a bird requires.
Walking a little way further, surrounding the walls in the lounge are beautiful vivariums with adequate ventilation and lighting, which houses bearded dragons, the two Californian snakes and 6 magnificent Tarantulas. One is really missing and I though Linky was joking

Forrest, the beautiful looking Iguana, his room is anyone's dream room. It took Craig a month to complete the room, drawing pictures on the walls, then painting it, the theme was Forrest. Complete with lighting and heating, the room is filled with plants and trees, wonderful spaces where he chills and sleeps.

Next to Forrest's room is a room which I will call the "Breeding" room.
There are 3 large like tubs, where there are worms in one, bugs in the 2nd and cockroaches filling the 3rd tub. Worms for the bearded dragons, cockroaches and bugs for the Tarantulas.

Sterretjie has a beautiful "girls" room, where she sleeps. Decorated girlie style, gorgeous couch, cushions, an unusual bunk bed with wooden flooring, with a heater, and lighting. A cosy night cage in the corner.

I am actually surprised that Linky and Craig have their own bedroom

Outside there are enclosures, for all the animals for during the day. A beautiful bar area, and braai area. Craig had the pleasure and knowledge, of building the enclosures and the bar area.
The swimming pool, looked so inviting with all the fountains flowing in.

PART TWO COMING SOON

What incredible environments for the lucky Linky lineup ....sorry ...jet lagged. Glad weather was okay to south. We got rain and kaboom stuff up here in Dadaab. Jealous...here...freely admit it.

Well I am sorry to say, but thinking back of Saturday I have to say that it was a HUGE disappointment!
m195.png

Here are the reasons:

1. They arrived at 1pm and that was hopelessly too late, we did not even say .05% of what we wanted to say.
sFun_tonguestuck1.gif

2. We were chatting so lekker that we forgot to take photos of Craig braaiing!
291.gif

3. There was no time to take out the lawnmower and deliver the promised photos either.
gaah.gif

3. When we saw again it was already time for the rugby and we had to run inside with our half dished up food. Craig is still asking "What salad dressing?"

4. When we were inside 'watching' the rugby we were again visiting so lekker that we forgot all the food outside in the dark!

5. For this reason nobody got seconds!
essen.gif

6. And then it was already after 8, we did not even get around to coffee!
4025mr7.gif

7. We still have 10+ conversations that are just hanging unfinished and a 1000 that has not even started yet!
blahblah.gif

8. They were in the car and out the gate, just like that.
sigh.gif

So, I am sorry, I do not have the promised photos and nothing that was planned happened.:p

I was so excited before Ant arrived, it was like meeting a long lost friend.

When they finally arrived we hugged and cried, hie-hie, can you believe, tears! We must have been friends in a different life.
grin2-1.gif

She came so waar as wragtag with her tekkies on, can you believe! They almost walked right over me and Craig - straight to the snakes and tarantula vivariums, checking if all was safe I suppose. Sky, my bearded dragon, came running into the house to come and greet the visitors. What a charmer!

After they felt assured we went outside to the swimming pool and set Mishka and Sterretjie up. They did not hit it off, they viewed each other as a bird of different feathers and were happy to just look at each other from a distance. But I have to say, Mishka is the most well behaved girl I HAVE EVER met! She was just sitting there big eyed and observed and observed.
20100905_6.jpg

Sterretjie was on her play ring on the stoep and believe it or not, she was singing away!
20100905_5.jpg

Mishka definitely had a good effect on her! She must have thought that mommy was going to replace her if she did not poop that metal out fast!

Ant met Sky and he gave her loads of love and hugs, he is such a lover boy!
20100905_2.jpg

After receiving so much love from such a wonderful lady Sky decided to dive in the pool to cool off!
aa4.jpg

After 'rescuing' him, a big wind blew and swooped our garden umbrella right over the 8 foot wall into the neighbors garden! The neighbors werent home and they have BIG dogs, so it was a whole rescue mission going on to recover the umbrella. :D

Jessica phoned and it felt as if she was right there with us.
20100905_25.jpg

I assured her that Ant did not just buy a Hunters for her but also consumed a few!
I told Linky I don't drink.
shame.gif

20100905_13.jpg

Pay attention to empty drink on the right and a fresh one on the left!

Pleased to meet you Jessica!
shake2.gif

So we were happy and merry
drunk.gif
and then Craig placed the dish with the meat in front of us! He showed us nicely which was well done, medium and medium to rare. WHAT! We did not take any photos of the braai yet!

So, as Craig went back to the bar Ant and I grabbed the dish and started packing the meat back on the braai for the photo!
a8f8d129.gif

20100905_18.jpg

That is where the problem came in, all nicely sorted meat where now nicely mixed up!
sFun_doh2-1.gif
So Cari got medium when she ordered well burnt and I got well done while I ordered medium!:p (Dont tell Craig.)

20100905_19.jpg

Here Ant is trying to pack the meat the way we found it!

We had lekker rolls, salad (WITH TOMATO) and a nice salad dressing - specially made by Ant. Yum Yum.
eating.gif

20100905_23.jpg

Yes, that is the Freddie hand shoving the tomatoes in my face!
sick0022.gif
Jy weet!

I loved Cari and Steven, they were such great company and a joy to have with us!
20100905_24.jpg

This is the closest that Sterretjie and Mishka got to each other. Sterretjie sat on Ant's shoulder quite a view times, she knew Ant was the bird whisperer but she had to remove the earrings pretty fast.

We were hardly finished dishing up and then we had to run to the lounge for the rugby. Craig did not get any salad dip!
352nmsp.gif

The food was delicious and Mishka LOVED her T-bone. We wanted to take a photo but Mishka decided that she did not want the world to see that she eats like a little piggy so, she dropped the bone the moment I lifted the camera.

While Ant and I wondered off to the bar, Mishka decided that she wanted to sit by Craig. Isn't that just precious!
20100905_29.jpg

After eating we took a spotlight and went on a discovery. I showed them the beauty of tarantulas, purple, cobalt blue, orange, red, shimmering black and pink. The bird eater became shy for the first time so they did not get to see her, but I see in your photo Ant, that she was against the glass. I circled her:
user3819_pic851_1283696059.jpg

The kids also loved the beauty of Storm and Blade, my snakes.
20100905_31.jpg

It started to get very late and it was still a long drive home so my new friend had to say goodbye.

....

Thanks for my lekker nuts and sweeties that you left for us Ant! .... It makes up for the tomatoes!

But, I see you did not post river's home? My poor baby. So here he is so that he does not feel neglected.;)

I HOPE YOU ENJOYED THE SOUTH AFRICAN BRAAI!
