Well, I learned today that I should never go into a pet store with too much money in my pocket. My intention was to go in there and get a few things for the flock...I did...just happened to walk out with a bird too :) but I saw her and knew she needed to join our flock ...well, after QT of course.

So, without further adieu- meet Snow, the 4th budgie :D

Beautiful! :) Albinos are so pretty I think. So Snow is a female for sure? Is she potentially going to be Quigley's BFF?

Awww she's a sweetheart. Welcome to the flock snow :). Tomorrow I m hoping to get a budgie to keep Maddie company :)

So far my assumption is female, and I'm hoping she will fit in well- right now the other three have become confused about their alliances  but I'm hoping quigley will bond with snow because quigley doesn't want to be friends with cloud or lemon *sigh*

My hubby needs to hurry up and build their aviary!

The story on her name- I wanted to name what I thought was a HIM, John Snow....until I got him home and realized he's a SHE! So...her name is Snow. :)

Shirre, she is gorgeous! No wonder you couldn't leave her behind:)

You're just as dangerous going into a bird store as I am! Congratulations on your beautiful new baby! She looks like she's going to be a little sweetheart.

Ooh I love the all white budgies. I keep watching for one but I'm afraid of upsetting the bond my two already have, or adding a male into the cage.

awwww, she is beautiful!!....congratulations

her name is very fitting, and she looks healthy too :)

Snow still might be a male!!!! So I think it would still be fitting!

I can't tell well from the image, but the cere appears pink rather than white, indicating male! And he(?) is gorgeous!

Yes, the cere is more pink than white- I'm not sure why I always have issues with budgie genders (LOL)

If it's without a doubt pink, then I'd say Snow is male! IF it changes to white, then you've got a hen.

Many people automatically think that blue equals male, pink equals female. Adult hens typically have white, white with tan/blue, tan or crusty brown ceres. Some assume that if the bird doesn't have a blue cere, it's automatically a female. When you consider the fact that normal males and females don't have pink ceres, you are then left with a bird of unknown gender! Ino and recessive pied mutations remove the blue coloration in a males cere, however hens still get white, tan and crusty brown ceres in the same mutations.

When I first got into bird keeping (and budgies at first), I spent weeks trying to learn everything I could about them! And sexing them was not an easy topic, since so many sites had conflicting information!

I don't blame you in the least about being confused as to what their genders are! :)

Snow is beautiful!!! That is how I ended up with a budgie... Cam was just too cute to not take home... and I didn't have budgies at all!! He is still an only budgie child, but he comes out of the cage too. I keep wondering if I should not set up a larger flight cage and get him friends, but he's fairly friendly, tho catching him to put him back is always an adventure. Bugger flies really well and with having cats, he seems to much like appropriate size flying food, I don't clip his wings.

Anyway, babbling!!! Snow is beautiful, I think I would probably have had to bring her home too if I came across her :)

Snow is lovely! I have two white parakeets, I still have to look at their eyes to tell them apart. Meri's eyes are pink, Pippin's are black. They stay close to each other and seldom bicker, they even sleep side by side in the same swing.

I have two recessive pied, and they're DNA sexed (to be sure) adult males. They both have the lavender/pink cere like Snow. The info is conflicting out there as far as what female recessive pied or Ino look like.

She's beautiful! She just needs her prince charming now! :)
